Waters have gone but no pains

Has anyone had this?

I had a show yesterday and my waters have gone this morning, but so far I've had no pains or tightenings. This is my second labour and I'm 39+3. The midwife has told me to sit it out for a few hours and if nothing happens she will come over and check me out. Is this normal?

Happened to my SIL. If it goes too long they might have to induce due to fear of infection, but her contractions started quite suddenly about 18 hours later.

It happened to my neighbour.

They get a bit concerned if labour doesn't definitely start in 24 (?) hours after waters go (infection risk) but as she was a HCP who promised to take her temperature at some specified interval and go straight in for even the slightest rise, they let her stay home a bit longer, and IIRC she had the baby about 36 hours on.

Contractions started about half an hour later. Just sat at home, waiting it out now!

I has this with ds. They did a check to make sure it was actually my waters (!) then I was sent home for 24 hours. Next day had a stretch and sweep which did nothing. Few hours later a pesserie induction which did nothing. Few hours later drip induction and it took forever for me to get established contractions. Had an epidural which didn't help with the speed of things and which I regret. However I'd said I wanted to avoid a c section at all costs unless baby or me were in danger and they did their best to give me that and I delivered naturally with no tears!

Waters went 3.30am Monday. Baby delivered 9.08pm Wednesday. I was knackered!

This happened with me. Waters went about 7 am Saturday morning. Went into triage to be examined and was given temperature strips to monitor my own temp. Pain like proof pain/ ache by Saturday eve and early contractions Saturday might/ latent stage throughout Sunday, but not quite regular 'enough'

When I was into triage try booked my induction for 8am Monday morning- the theory being baby would either come on his own beforehand or I'd be induced on Monday. Went in on Monday with v strong pains ( although midwife somewhat dismissed the pain - saying things like'first time mums often the think their pains are bad... Don't be disappointed If you are only 1 cm....)
Lots of 'faffing' a la NHS and everyone assumed I'd be induced/put in drip. Was given an antibiotic drip as Birth canal had been unprotected since waters gone.
Was examined just after 10- 51/2 cms ( I bloody told them the pains were ther lol!) baby arrived at 4.45pm without any further medical intervention x

Keep an eye on your temp as it's a sign of infection and obv watch out for any yellow/green in your discharge. Otherwise I was advised to stay active/ keep moving/scrub the floor etc cause in my case baby wasn't fully engaged until the last minute!
