Twins breech/transverse. Running out of time for turning for natural birth, any tips?

I'm currently 35 weeks with DCDA twins. Twin 1 is breech and twin 2 transverse (and right up at the top under my ribs). I'm absolutely desperate to avoid a section if at all possible, but wouldn't consider vaginal delivery if T1 stays breech (happy for T2 to deliver in whatever position he or she fancies).

So far I have tried swimming (including handstands in the pool..), inversion a la spinning babies website, and moxibustion. I also walk a fair amount with the dogs, and try to make sure that I'm sitting on the birthing ball rather than the sofa etc when resting. Twins were still upsidedown/sideways about a week ago and bump shape suggests no change since then.

Can anyone suggest anything else that might possibly help? I really, really, REALLY don't want a section...

You could try moxi sticks- heated and applied to an acupuncture point on your foot. I dont know how they work but have a good success rate apparently. acupuncturists and Chinese medicine practitioners will do it for you, or you can buy some and do it yourself- I am sure there would be instructions online

Mine were the same. Go with the section. What are your concerns? Perhaps others will be able to reassure you. Once I got to 34 weeks, the consultant said they were unlikely to move, and, for me, DTD2 was wedged under my ribs anyway. My section was fine.

Sorry can't help but didn't want to read and run ..... I would say the chances of Twin 1 turning are pretty small due to the confined space in there! I was lucky to avoid a section with my twins 18yrs ago but if that's the way they need to be delivered then so be it. Try not to worry and enjoy your last few weeks Grin x

One of mine did a full on flip at 35 weeks I remember it well because it was Christmas day and I did nt want Christmas babies. My second was transverse right up there in my ribs I thought I was going to suffocate at times.I was getting the turkey out of the oven Excellent timing. So there is hope if baby is determined enough.I had to be induced in the end.two and a bit weeks later.

Hi Op,
No advice I'm afraid but my first twin turned from transverse to head down at 34 weeks (a few days ago just before my scan) so just wanted to let you know it's possible. I'm hoping things get moving soon so he doesn't have chance to flip back round!

Thanks for all the responses. I've already given moxibustion a go bit am thinking of having another go this week. Lots of swimming now I'm on mat leave but guess that's all I can do. Just to be clear I'm not scared of lscs, it's just that I've waited a long time for the chance to give birth and (perhaps unusually) was really looking forward to having that experience! If lscs is the only option then so be it, just wondering if there were any secret tips or old wives' tales out there.

Might plan a turkey dinner for later in the week Wink

See an osteopath who is experienced in treating pregnant women. Whilst they will never (or shouldn't ever) say that they can 'turn' breech babies, they can very gently (doesn't feel like they're 'doing' anything) adjust and create an optimum physical situation for your babies.

I saw an osteopath friend of mine when my baby had been breech for a couple of months during pregnancy... A week later she'd turned.

If you're anywhere near South London, let me know if u want his details.

Good luck!

Not with twins but at 35 weeks my DS was breech. I happened to be lying on bed on my back with my legs over side (I know...not at all comfortable but having cuddle with DD!). He just turned. It was quite weird when my belly just lurched over and at next apt he was head down. Good luck.
