Anyone up? Do these sound like contractions?

I am 41+2 with DC1 and getting what I think are regular contractions - pain radiating up through my bottom and pelvis and bump hardening. They're coming every 3-5 minutes but they're bearable at the moment. Just a bit confused because there hasn't been much build up and I don't want to be sent away and told its just wind. I lost my plug around lunchtime on Friday.

Just called MLU and got the answer phone - told to call mobile if in Labour. Any thoughts as to whether I should go ahead or just sit it out?

Sounds like labour to me! At 3-5 mins apart I would call the mobile number. When my contractions started (12 hours before baby popped out) they were ten mins apart.

I'm up! Dh hogging the bed buts that's another story

I would say just sit it out for another 30 mins but because you've lost you plug and your over I'd give the mobile number a call and if get down there if your sent home your sent home.

Better to get looked at than sit and panic

Apparently babies are predetermined to arrive the middle of the night so this could very well be it

Thanks both - I cracked and called any way and she didn't tell me I clearly wasn't in labour. She's advised that since I seem to be coping pain wise I'm fine to stay at home but to call back anytime.

Thanks again - fingers crossed this is it as I'm more than ready to get this baby out now!

Is it bearable when you are actually having the contractions? I found it almost felt like wave of food poisoning, hard to bear but then suddenly gone. I just wasn't sure if I was in labour the first time, nor was the hosp. But they told me to come in anyway just in case. Dc1 was born just a few hours later.

Mine were bearable for so long I only asked the midwife to come out 90 mins before DS was born - and clearly they sounded very bearable to her over the phone because she took an hour to arrive.

Oops, that wasn't supposed to sound so smug - I just meant, don't set too much store by bearable-ness. :)

Yes bearable, just sitting on ball and breathing - to be honest that's what made me doubt it was actual contractions given the frequency of them. MW said frequency is fine but intensity suggests too early to come in so best to stay at home if I'm happy to do so. We're max 10 mins from MLU at this time of night so I'm not particularly concerned about having to rush in.

To be honest after all the sodding waiting I'd rather lost sight of the prize at the end - meeting baby was quite low down my list of "things I am looking forward to about not being pregnant any more"

You'll have graduated from the being pregnant to the mommy stage soon.

Just concentrate on the job in hand and soon you'll be holding a lovely baby and you'll be able to see your feet! Bonus

sounds very promising. I had very bearable contractions for the first couple of hours. my mum was staying with us then and I remember asking her if it can really be it after every contraction. I was holding my baby the following afternoon. good luck

Have lain down again but getting much more intense now. Might run a bath in a mo. Had plenty to eat yesterday and was super organised so have flapjacks, fruit and all sorts in labour bag.

Pains since about 12:30, v regular since 1;30, more intense in last half hour.

We don't know what we're having but the troublesome late little wotsit is clearly a boy that takes after his father

A bit patchy. Some lesser ones v close together and then a gap before a bigger one. Am in the bath. Had some blood when I went to the loo (fresh, red). Should I worry about that?

Just saw this op. Good luck! Fresh red blood generally means things are progressing nicely but let mw know anyway. All four of my labours have been irregular, right up until the babies were born. How are you now? Is this your first baby?
