Hi all!

Ok, so today I am 39 weeks + 1.
On Thursday night I had pains in my tummy, cramping but above my belly button. It felt similar to when I've had sicky bugs before. It seemed retry constant but with some 'peaks'. Had completely stopped by 5am on the Friday.
1pm on the Friday it started again. As I was with friends it was slightly easier to try and ignore it but I found myself zoned out of what we were talking about most of the time. By 11pm it had completely stopped.
Then 4:40am this morning it started again and is still aching.
I've also had lower back pain and this morning I vomited.

I feel like such a wimp. I'm a first timer but even I know it's gonna get a lot worse, which scares the crap out of me! I've spoken to the midwife who says its my body getting ready.

Don't know what I hope to achieve on this thread. Did you experience similar things before labour? And how long did you experience it for? What I'd really like is someone to say, 'oh, you'll have your baby in x amount of time!' Any psychics out there?!?!?!?

This sounds a lot like the pre labour clearout. How are you feeling now? Have you had a show?

Looks like things are starting to get moving. Keep yourself rested and hydrated, so you're prepared for the main event! This start start business could last a few days, or you could get contracting regularly really soon.

Good luck!!! I hope you have a lovely easy labour and some lovely newborn snuggles soon

Beginning of labour is often a hazy business, so when people say 'my labour was X hours' its usually an approximation. It can creep up on you little by little. The best thing is to try and carry on doing normal-ish things in a gentle fashion and see how you go. Be positive, this is the start of your new family life and a time to cherish. Hope all goes well. Smile

Oo sounds like things are starting to move! Grin Keep calm and enjoy the gentle lead-in. Might be worth wearing a pad, if you're not already. But keep on moving about. Oh, and enjoy the last moments of peace and two-time with your man!

I reckon babe will be hear within two weeks soon ThanksThanks

It's not forever honest! It WILL happen. Just make sure you've got everything ready :)

Good luck!

I've had friends feel like this for days and others feel like it for weeks. Your body is busy getting ready for labour even if actual labour isn't imminent. It's best just to focus on the fact that a normal pregnancy is 37-42 weeks and your baby will likely come of its own accord some time in the next couple of weeks. I know it's hard to enjoy it but you probably will miss that little person inside you, tapping and squirming and listening to your heartbeat. Having them outside of you is brilliant but these last quiet days can be a bit special if you embrace them instead of fighting them.

I know I sound wanky and annoying btw. Feel free to swear vociferously at me in the hope it starts labour. Grin

The only other thing is that if you're dehydrated (really easy if pregnant in this heat), you will find that symptoms like backache, contractions, nausea etc are really common. Stay hydrated and take it nice and easy. Cake helps.
