Anyone had an elcs with terrible external piles?

I was due to have an elcs next weds at 39 +4. On Friday with no warning (no constipation) 2 external clotted piles appeared. After a night of agony (my bum contracting on them everytime I nodded off) they were stuffed back in on Saturday (still very painful but no bum contractions) and stayed that way until they popped out again last night.

This led to another night of NO sleep at all. I saw the consultant today who tried to put them back and couldn't so has brought forward the elcs to tomorrow.

This is good obviously because relieving pressure will help. However I am terrified of how bad this will be after the elcs and also unclear how they will make the piles go. Has anyone been through this and can offer any words of comfort? I am also scared of how knackered I will be after two nights of NO sleep?

I'm sorry I have no advice or you, but haven't taken piles into consideration for elcs. Booked for 2 weeks.

I have manged to shrink mine a bit with anasol but not the magical cure I was hoping for.

Mine luckily aren't sore, just gross feeling, what will happen during or after birth, I may go into labour earlier?

Don't worry, my piles are extreme!!! :-(
An elcs is much better for piles than a VB - no pushing. My elcs has been brought forward because a VB would be far worse for my piles!
You get constipated after an elcs so to not upset your piles take laxatives and eat lots of dried fruit and drink lots.
If you go into labour early they will probably treat you as an emcs and usually just a slightly greater sense of urgency as you'll have loads of warning. Good luck :-)

They do sound extreme, and I was having a right strop when mine appeared, I haven't mentioned it to my midwife or consultant, probably should after taking things into consideration.

Hope someone comes along with more info for you.

I still have the piles from having my ds 2.5yrs ago I was told they would disappear after I gave birth and they didn't. I went to gp who gave me a laxative (I'm not constipated) which made no difference. ive just learned to live with them now they're huge and disgusting but doc won't do anything as I'm not in pain. What I'm saying is don't let them fob you off insist on being treated.

Iclaudius - section brought forward due to severe pain of piles and consequential inability to sleep. The piles are growing because of pressure from baby and heat so they feel best thing is to deliver (given he is cooked). My incessant sobbing also probably driving them mental! I think they view thrombosed piles as a different kettle of fish to 'normal' ones.

Ok, I had shocking piles after my EMCS.

The nurse examined mine when i went for an appointment and was so shocked that she called the GP into the room .

Tips were:

Proctosydl ointment
Lidocaine for pain killing
Ice pack
Lying down with bum raised

They did go down and, although they are still around, they have shrunk away and generally don't cause much trouble.
