I was induced at 40+14 with dc2. Had the gel early evening and contractions started at some point during the night (I think around 2am ish). I was sleeping in between contractions so not really with it and midwife wasn't aware i was contracting.

Anyway, was examined at about 6am and was 4cm. Moved down to labour ward etc. At around 8am mw tried to break my waters but couldn't so called doctor to try. He had a good old prod and kept telling me to stop kicking him in the face (slightly blush), anyway he came to the conclusion that my waters had already gone.

Dd born just over an hour later, very quick progression. My waters had indeed already gone but I sill have no idea when. I had no wet patches at any point, no leakages etc, fluid had been fine at both scans, plus at a private scan at 32 weeks.

So my quick hmm question was has anyone else's waters broken and they don't know until labour? I'm currently 40+3 with dc3 and am assuming my waters are still there but if I didn't know they had broken before will I this time.

Also should point out I was induced with dd1 as well and had my waters ruptured for me but they were definitely there and intact. Dd2 was fine btw, had to stay in a extra night in case of infection but she was fine smile.

Yes. No leaks at all, though with hindsight did have quite a long wee on the loo at one point and wonder if waters may have gone then. Got to hospital at 7cm and mw asked when my waters had gone. No idea!!

Good to know I'm not the only one!

Yes. I had no idea at all until I was induced. The Midwife and doctor tried to break my waters 5 times until they realised that there were none to break.
It then turned out that I had an infection because of this, and ended up having DD by emc. confused

Mine went when I was in the bath, didn't feel a thing, no popping/bursting sensation or anything - only really clicked when "bits" started floating around in the bath and I thought ugh whats what blush

Could it have been something like that?

So it's not just be then that was unaware of it smile

I honestly don't know if they went in the bath at any point. There was nothing to suggest they had. My mw was surprised I didn't know they had gone but I knew I couldn't be the only one grin

Yes mine went in the bath but I didn't notice as was too busy trying to vacate as had also pooped in there too (tmi). Midwives were most surprised when DS arrived with no obvious waters.

I got up to pee in the middle of the night and somehow sensed that I wasn't actually peeing iyswim. I had no popping or bursting sensation at all and my bed was completely dry - so I hadn't been 'leaking'. Took myself off to the maternity triage at the hospital the following morning where they confirmed that my waters had indeed gone.

Honestly can't say what it was that made me think that it was my waters rather than a normal pee - just a sixth sense.....

No idea when my waters broke either! I was in the bath for all of 5 minutes but nothing makes me think they went in there. After DS was born the midwife asked me when they broke and was quite surprised when I said I didn't know!

Me! DD was born and at nonpoint in labour to my knowledge did the waters 'go'. The only time they could have gone was during bath but no sign to suggest they had.

A mystery to me to this day!
