How long did it take for your post birth piles to shrink?!

Ok sorry it's a grim topic, but I'm suffering terribly with post birth piles. I'm downing ibuprofen & paracetomol and using Anusol cream & having regular tea tree baths, but I'm on day 5 post birth and they still aren't shrinking- in fact I think they've got worse
:(

Do I just persevere and they eventually go? If you had them how long did it take before they disappeared?
Mine are probably the size of 2 grapes (sorry tmi..) it's just agony sitting down. I really want to get on with enjoying my lovely newborn & getting my life back!

Tia :)

Oh prob 2 weeks in total it was awful I feel your pain. Have you got the stuff with local anaesthetic in? Lie on your side as much as possible and don't let yourself get constipated, take lactulose just enough to keep you going good luck and congratulations on your baby xxx

Bless you. Keep doing what your doing and they will go down. Mine took a couple of weeks to go down. I know this will sound grim but are you able to push them back in in the bath? If you can it will help. And get the cream with the local anaesthetic in as readysteady says.
Keep relaxed and lay down as much as you can with your new baby.
Congratulations

Get to the gp and get some suppositories! I saw my gp with piles like that, got the suppositories, and the pain went the next day, such a relief! They shrank down really fast after the birth, within a week I'd say, and I was still using the suppositories.

Phew thanks ladies-- so good to know they go eventually. I've got a docs appt booked in next week too so if they haven't started to clear up by then, then I can get some help. Until then it's the old 'this too shall pass' I suppose!

Mine probably took 3 months but I wasn't assertive enough in getting treatment. Will have to do that differently this time. . . I'm 37+3 and they're back now. . .

About 2 weeks they started to improve. It was horrific for the first week, between the stitches and the piles I couldn't sit down. They are completely gone Now at 4 weeks
