Anyone else waiting for labour?!

Hello
I'm 39+4 with first baby and am poised waiting for labour to kick in any time this week or next week. Just wondered if anyone else was foot taping waiting for their bundle of joy to fill the crib?!! Confused
Also any thoughts on whether swimming still ok?! Am trying to keep busy but would hate for waters to break in a public pool Shock

Yes, I'm 39+1 with my second. At this point in my last pregnancy my waters had just broken, so I'm on tenterhooks!

I constantly think I'm about to pop but in reality I've had no signs that labour is imminent so I should probably prepare for a bit more of a wait!

Swimming will be fine as long as your waters are intact. I'm going to try lots of walking to try to get things moving.

Hey good luck and hope it comes soon.
I'm 37+4 and been in either very slow first stages of labour (or one long false labour) since 1am on Sunday!!!!!!
Trying to keep busy but can't keep my mind off it.
Anyway when your time comes hope it's not as long as this!
Best of luck :)

Yes!!!!
I am 40+4 and so tired of waiting!
I think I spend the whole day fielding emails and calls from family and friends while trying to battle through imaginary last minute preparation (washing baby things I may have forgotten to wash).

Yes me too! I'm 40+6 with DD3. Have been getting strong & regulart braxton hicks for about 3 weeks now but the past two days they have vanished. Have had 2 sweeps and even resorted to sex last night. Nothing at all to show for it today though! Have actually slept all day so am not hopeful for the baby making an appearance tonight either. it's so frustrating!

40+3 with DC3 here. Had a sweep this afternoon, the midwife says I'm ready to go, but I'm not going to get too excited. I was told the same with DS and he arrived at 40+14.

I'm hoping this one will be more like DD, I only went 4 days over with her.

Does anyone think sweeps make a difference?
The midwife tried to do one on Monday but couldn't reach (something to do with the position of the cervix with the baby being posterior facing).
I don't know whether to push for another.

I went into labour with DD1&2 after sweeps both times so I'm gutted that it hasn't worked this time. I think they will only work if you are actually ready to give birth. Ie this time round my cervix has been soft both times but still quite far back. From that the midwife said that it was unlikely to work. I'm booked for another on Monday, before I get induced on Tuesday, and she seemed to think that would start things off successfully. I hate waiting!!

I'm 38+1 with #1 and soooo impatient. She's baked now, so why won't she come out?! I've started on the raspberry leaf, oil of evening primrose, gym ball bouncing, brisk walking and I'm thinking of spending tonight running up and down the stairs! I may even let DP do sex, even though I feel like a beached whale and about as horny as a quaker prayer meeting Angry

BabyClam I had 3 sweeps with DS and none of them worked. Though I think the one I had today might be doing something, I've had backache all afternoon, and generally feel like everything is about to fall out.

It's always worth a try, especially if you're trying every other induction method under the sun anyway.

I've been trying pressing on the acupressure points on my hands. Not sure I believe it'll work, but I just want to meet the baby now. Though once I've actually got a newborn and two under 4s I'll probably wonder why I was so desperate for him/her to arrive!

I'm 38+5 with DS2 & I've been at the rasp tea, walking & birthing ball.I have also had accupuncture 2 times( due for last session next week),so I will let y'all know if it helps...The baby did move when the acc needles were inserted & it definitely started my BH,which I didnot have with DS1.
Oh & I did have a sweep with DS1 & it did work,albeit v slowly(had sweep at 40+10,at 3pm & was 8cm dilated at 10pm the following evening).

I'm 39+5 today so OP we must have the same due date (Sunday)??? Grin

DD was born at 37+1 so this is a massive shock to the system still being pregnant. Not at all what I expected! No sign at all. Sad May go to Mothercare in a short while to have a mooch about the baby stuff...

If your waters break in the pool you probably won't even notice - mine last time were just like, well, water - odourless, colourless...

Yes emsy, due on Sunday!!
Any news from anyone?!!
I didn't want to be doing all those crazy things to bring labour on but might change my mind next week!!!

Nothing happening here - I've told DH that we will be having lots of sex next week, however awkward it might be with my giant belly. I think I have persuaded him. Grin

So much for me thinking that nothing would work- DS2 was born 24 hours after my sweep.

Congrats Anathema ! (we're all completely jealous)

39 exactly, here, and becoming fed up of my insane symptom spotting! I'm knicker-checking as though I were in the first trimester.

40+5. Ignoring texts asking for updates. Fat and grumpy. Sex pineapple and walking has done nothing.

Is it true you get vouchers if your waters break in mothercare?

Report
katolla · 02/02/2013 12:12

Pickled are you going to go and camp there just in case? I think if you didn't mind publicising it any shop would give you vouchers so that they looked good.. I would just run away I think. Tho maybe apologise for the mess ..

Has anyone else gone yet?
I am definitely asking for a sweep on Monday now after Anathema's success.
No Braxton Hicks or anything here, I think I may be pregnant forever!

Report
BabyClam · 02/02/2013 12:51

I heard the same thing about vouchers in John Lewis so I was planning to hot foot it down there if there are any twinges...
With a nice long labour I think I could pretend my waters had broken in as many as 3 different shops!

In wetherspoons ATM, hope they don't go here, not very classy and doubt they'd comp my nachos
