What did you wear in hospital after the baby was born? I need links please - people have me v worried about this:-(

I can't find black maternity pyjamas! A friend who gave birth said you basically throw out your pyjamas after you wear them as I will be leaking blood so badly. This really makes me feel uncomfortable: number 1, I can't really afford to buy 5/6 pairs of pyjamas to just bin after 1 wear and number 2, will I really leak blood everywhere I go? Really? Do maternity pads not stop this?

Anyone who has given birth recently, if you could tell or show me what you wore immediately afterwards I would be really grateful!

I took two pairs of really big primark flannel pyjamas. I did bleed a lot but changed pads very often and it was fine, my pyjamas were fine.
And hopefully you'll only be in one night :)

I'm going to wear a nightshirt and cheap black leggings.

Last time I gave birth I sat around in a nightie - my clothes were unscathed but I can't say the same about the bed sheets...

Wear whatever you will be comfy in. Nothing to tight

I always wore black jogging bottoms. The kind with the roll top which you can wear when pregnant.

I wore a nightshirt and big pants with enormous sanitary pads. I also had a lightweight dressing gown. I never had to throw any of them away

I got some navy patterned PJs. They weren't maternity ones, I just got a bigger size. The maternity pads stopped any leaks for me.

I bought a couple of pairs of super cheap pajamas from Tesco, about £8 each I think. Didn't bleed onto them, just take plenty of pads and some massive knickers :)

You favourite comfy maternity dark trousers/pj's/leggings and a couple of t shirts/pj tops

Make sure you get maternity pads and you will also have a pad on the bed. The bleeding should be manageable so don't fret too much. Those maternity pads are HUGE

I just wore darkish tracksuit bottoms, they were fine and certainly didn't need to be thrown out. I was only in for a few hours each time though.

I had a 2 pack of dark coloured maternity pyjamas from mothercare, and some maternity tracksuit bottoms packed as a spare. I wore big pants underneath with those big thick maternity pads. I only leaked once and it wasn't a big deal, certainly not gushing! Just remember to change pads regularly.

I had grey ones and changed the pad regularly, I didn't leak at all. Black leggings are a good idea, I lived in them for the first month after DS was born.

Also even if you did leak why throw hem away? Just wash with loads of vanish :)

I got some big pjs from primark, I did leak a bit but it washed out after so they didn't need throwing out.

You might need to bin your panties, so I would buy some huge cheap black ones from the supermarket, but only on the first day/ night. Use maternity pads if you can, I swiped some hospital ones as they were soooooo thick, then switched to my own maternity ones after a day or two.

Maternity nightie and black leggings. Still wear them all. The blood is totally manageable

As it was sooo hot I actually just wore a nightie I could feed in - stretchy grey one & black one from debenhams & then stretchy black jogging bottoms & vest top.
I didn't bleed all over them just on the pads. I was in hospital for 3days post birth.

The best tip I got for saving clothes from leaking blood in the early days was to wear 2 maternity pads at the same time - once I'd figured out the optimum way to arrange them then I don't think I had any leakage issues. Just in case though I stuck to wearing black jogging bottoms whilst in hospital

Don't panic!

I wore a pair of black lounge pants and short strappy nightie from primark. Easy to breast feed in, very stretchy and I just bought a couple of sizes bigger than normal.

I bled loads according to midwives but frequent pad changes take care of it. Get some big knickers too!

I found it was towels that were harder to keep from getting bloody after a shower the first couple of days.

When people say buy massive knickers what size do you mean? One size up from normal?

I bled a lot, multiple maternity pads at once, but didn't leak into my post natal ward clothes
still binned them though - DH was under strict instuctions to dispose of them so I never had to see them again once I got home! would certainly not continue to use them as normal sleep wear at home - too flash-backey

I was bigger post natally than before giving birth because of the swelling

same goes for slippers, if they're not the open kind you might need a size up

Don't laugh but my top tip is large tena lady pants. They are like one massive sanitary pad knicker and they just rip off at the sides. Very comfy and really absorbant

No need to panic! I lived in my normal pjs and wore massive pads! The nurses kept changing them for me. ( c sect)... I leaked a bit, but I have a washing machine.

I think your friend is a bit mean.

(I had to send DH out to buy me stuff for the post natal ward because I under estimated what size i'd be afterwards, I didn't realise that its quite common to be bigger after than at 9 months pregnant - had water retention all over)
