Hi, Had an emergency section 4 weeks ago. Anyone had a massage o (for recovery or relaxing purposes) and how did you find it? I'm just wary of booking one in a salon and causing any problems. Asked GP advice last week and he was a bit dismissive.
I've not, but logic states that if you booked a pregnancy massage where you sit up and avoid abdominal pressure then that could work. Talk to your local salon about how they'd do it and how they'd sit you and work it out with them your dr is obviously not concerned. and i'd sure that you more than deserve it.
I had a post-natal massage 3 days after my ELCS, BUT it was done by a very experienced MW who was also qualified in post-natal massage.
I would avoid salons and go for a post-natal massage specialist. I don't have any confidence that normal "salon" therapists have a good appreciation of anatomy (last time I has one, I asked whether they could work on my tight glutes - that seemed to translate to a gentle rub on the bottom... ).
However, I would hope that any salon/therapist would wait until after your "6 week" check before they will do anything (or have you already had that? Early?).
Also, if you are breastfeeding, make sure the therapist is aware of that: I am pretty sure that there are essential oils that you should "avoid"...
Also, be aware that - if you breastfeed - you are very likely to have quite a torrential "let down" during any massage... I did (something to do with the hormones releasing your milk). A qualified post-natal massage therapist will be aware of this.
