Between contractions?

Generally there are nice chatting, wandering around and drinking tea gaps between contractions.

DD2 forgot this. I spent a great deal of her birth sitting on my sofa watching a nice cup of tea go cold. Every time I tried to pick it up, ouch! The contractions rather ran into each other. Perfectly bearable, but nothing like DD1.

Good luck hope the baby arrives soon.

Typically it's a sign you're in the early part of labour, as once things ramp up, it becomes very difficult to talk and you naturally go "into the zone" in order to manage the surges. It does sometimes happen that a mum can remain lucid between contractions throughout, but is less common.

Phew so at least it's normal!

Thank you for replies. Just had a horrible one and it does help to be reminded I should have a baby soon!!! grin

Ooooh excted for you!! I was just like you, conversing normally, eating etc inbetween contractions. My parents found it very amusing, sa while I was contracting, I was unintelligble! And yes, there will be a time when you're wiped out.

Yes, this happened with 2 of my 3- a day spent having these types of contractions, then they got stronger towards evening...

You'll be holding your baby by morning! grin

hiya ooohhh exciting times for you smile

When I was contracting with my DD i felt fine between contractions until they became closer then it felt as if as soon as one finished another was beginning...during the first few hours of contracting I was even posting on MN between contractions smile

Hello!

I'm 39+6 today with my first baby and midwife has decided I'm in latent labour and proper labour is imminent! Eek!

I've been contracting on and off all day but they are def getting stronger and more regular. The only thing is I feel pretty normal between them. Once one finishes I'm sore for a bit then i just feel normal and can talk and watch tv. Is this normal? I don't know why I just thought I'd be wiped out!

I take it there will come a time when I will be wiped out?

Sorry for such a daft question blush
