Just wondering from mums with two or more babies, do labour times really get cut by half each time, or is that just a myth? Having had a relatively short 9 hours with my first makes me slightly scared of not making it to the hospital in time with this one.....oh dear.
I posted earlier about my quick second labour. The funny thing was my DH had this iPhone labour app that he was quite excited to use - the idea was to tap the screen every time there was a contraction and it would time them and generate lovely graphs and show how they were getting closer etc. He only got to tap it about 6 times before they just accelerated and we had to dash off to the hospital...
.
Would have been fine for DS1, indeed helped pass the time (didn't have the app yet at the point) but not a chance for DS2!
labour 1: 25hr
labour 2: 8hr
labour 3: 3hr
seems to more or less follow your rule.
1st labour DD was 6 hours 27 mins
2nd labour DS 55 minutes
Culture - yes, the same thing happened to us! We only got to use it for half an hour. I was looking at the times and saying to DH, 'of course I'm not in real labour, the contractions aren't lasting over a minute and I can talk during them', dd was born an hour later
We actually only went in because my waters had broken, if the midwife in labour ward had told me to wait until I felt I needed to come in, dd definitely would have been born at home.
1st 13 hours from first twinge, had a sleep, then 2 hour active labour (back to back) arrived at hospital fully dilated as MW on phone didn't believe I was in labour until I passed the amniotic sac and had to sit on a bucket until the ambulance arrived!
2nd 6 hours from first twinge to fully dilated, 3 pushes and out!
I didn't have any pain relief with either DC and needed my waters broken both times.
1st labour = 48 hours slow labour at home, then 5 further hours active labour in hospital, but relatively straightforward and not too much real pain involved.
2nd labour = 5 hours from 1st feel of contractions to birth. Pain much more intense during contractions but 2 pushes and he was here. And as he arrived at 6.30 this morning he's sleeping next to me in hospital.
stupidly glad I've read this thread.... my dd was born at 32weeks, I only had a 4 hour labour start to finish!! now 21weeks with her lil brother
... bring on a 2hour labour

Congratulations herecomesbod
massive congratulations Herecomesbod !!!!
Oh congratulations Herecomesbod!

Many thanks all! Sorry for not responding sooner, think I nodded off there for a minute.
He's delightful & I'm doing the whole 'falling in love with my baby' all over again. So grateful I got to this twice. Anyway, enough about me, who else has has 2nd/3rd etc labours that went mega fast?
I know it's easier for your cervix to dilate second time round, because it never closes fully after your first child!
Congrats herecomes!!!
Congrats herecomes on your new little bundle of joy !
Big congrats herecomes!! I'm liking this "two pushes and he was out"... sounds an improvement on my 2 hours of pushing last time - here's hoping! x
Hmm, so no 1 was 4 hours from no dilation to fully dilated and wanting to push and then 3 hours of pushing and a ventouse as he was a back to back delivery and got stuck. So I am assuming that if no 2 is not back to back it will be pretty quick then.
congratulations Herecomesbod!
Northwhittering my 8wo DS was back to back and i went from 4cm to baby and placenta out in 55 minutes. Second stage (pushing) was only 10 minutes.
My first labour was 82 minutes from first pain to out.
My second labour was 20 minutes from first pain to out
sweetflabbyadams goodness, two super speedy labours! Did you end up unattended for either?
