inductions not allowed-booked in for c section

My friend has been booked in for a c section if she hasnt started naturally herself, the hospital wont do inductions.
Do some hospitals have this policy?
What are your experiences with inductions?

My original Consultant wouldn't however my waters went at +10 days and the Consultant on 'take' that weekend allowed a drip augmentation as my cervix was favourable and I was very keen to try a VBAC. End result was the same however (a c-section) as I just duidn't dilate even with the augmentation. I am pleased I tried however.

is it not that the hospital wont do an induction for her for some medical reason, not that they dont do them at all? If the hospital is in the UK it probably follows the royal college and NICE guidelines - you (or your friend) can check these out online

often they are reluctant to induce for second birth if first is a c-section - they are usually concerned about induction bringing on labour very quickly and sharply which may put unnecessary pressure on the scar.... that is what my consultant said to me when due with no2

Was booked for induction at 12 days over last month, but was told very likely to fail as much smaller than usual doses of drugs given due to risk of rupture.

Our hospital didn't have a policy of no inductions after a previous c/s but they were very strict about what they were going to do if it didn't progress or how long they would allow me to be in labour ....
I was induced 3 days over my due date with DD. I had had a previous c/section. I wanted a vbac and wanted to go into labour on my own but the hospital was very reluctant to let me go much past my due date because my first baby was over 10lbs and they reckoned that this one was a big one too.
I was given a sweep on my due date and then a pessary 3 days later. It didn't do anything and then I was given another pessary 8 hours later. Had minor contractions that didn't progress (for 17 hours) and then had a c/section.
I think it was pretty much on the cards that DD would be born by C/S (I was kidding myself about the vbac really) because second babies tend to be bigger and all scans etc showed her to be a monster She turned out to be 10lbs 10oz
The thing is, red, is that your friend's case might not be just about inductions and c/sections, it may be about her history etc ...
