Any one had 3 c-sections?

I'm thinking about having no 3, but having had 2 c-sections, 1 emergency and 1 elective, don't much fancy a 3rd. I know I will have no choice. Anyone had 3 and does it get easier?

Hi

Just out of interest, why do you have to have another section? I had 2 sections and then went on to have a vaginal delivery, it can be done, you just need to want it badly enough to have the energy to 'fight' the consultants............... :) If it is impossible for you to have a natural delivery, there are loads of people who have had 3 sections, Mrs Beckham for one :o. Good luck, I love having 3 children.

My SIL has had 3 and although I don't think she would say it got any easier as such, she certainly had no ill effects from it Smile

i will let you know next week! i am the same as you i had am emergency with ds1 and then an elective with ds2, didn't plan on having anymore, but things happen Blush and i am now 38 weeks pg with no3, did discuss having a vbac2 but was told that as i had never dialted more than 6 cm's chances of ever doing so were slim, then this one decided to be breech so that ruled that out anyway.

i actually have pretty high expectations this time as ds2's c/s was so lovely and straight forward, a few things with reagrds to the spinal that i have found out since , like they had difficulty siting it, and my bp went very low a few times in theatre, but nothing that impacted on my perceptions of how well it all went. so just hope i'm not lettign myself in for a big disappointment this time!

I've only had 2 sections, but if I got pregnanat again which I don't plan on I would definitely book in for number 3. There are a couple of mumsnetters who have had 5 sections. And I think the worst thing about that is that it must mean they have 5 kids. Shock 2 is enough for me... truth is 2 is all I can afford.

I didn't think I would be allowed a natural birth, but anyway as only got to 3cm the first time think it would be unlikely I'd manage it. Thanks for this, let me know how next week goes vicki!

Hiya - I'm having my 3rd in about 4 weeks time! I had an emergency with dd and an elective with ds. I had to fight to get my elective and was prepared for a fight again this time but the consultant basically said it's up to me. He said I have got a 75% chance of a successful 'natural' birth if I wanted to try but I'm too scared!! I have to admit I'm more nervous this time than I was last time but I don't know if that's just nervous of the thought of having 3 children more than anything else!!! Grin

THAT'S JUST NOT TRUE!!!!!!. My first 2 boys were born by section and then I went on to have three fantastic natural births. When I first said I wanted to try for a normal birth I met with stiff oppositon from my consultant who tried to put me off with all sorts of scare stories. I found another consultant who said that they didn't have accurate enough statistics to make any certain statements. I think it really depends WHY you needed the previous sections. If you had a recuring problem then it could well happen again, but if it was just say, foetal distress then there is no reason why you can't try for a normal birth if that's what YOU want to do. Remember that you DO NOT HAVE to do what they say, they can only advise you and YOU make the decision. It's tricky when faced with some 'up his own arse 'consultant, I know. I would really suggest finding someone who you feel is sympathetic to your needs and isn't just chanting whatever mantra they've got stuck in their heads. You'll nedd to be strong though, good luck

My pb is that with dd1, they induced me for labour but after 36 hours nothing happened so emergency c-section for baby 9lb.6.
dd2 was elective c-section for 11lb baby.Again nothing was happening, no dilatation, no contractions , nothing and my belly was just HUGE.I must say that i dream of natural labour but that doesnt seem to be for me.besides after 2 c-section not allowed natural delivery.now baby 3 due dec will be elective section.I would totally advice anyone against c-section (i feel hypocrit saying that but i had no choice in the matter).

hi fresco, when you say nothing was happening, what does that mean? Do you mean you started contracting and then stopped? Did they pressurise you to be induced as soon as you became 40+1? All my natural births have been overdue by about 17 days.I can't say fending the medics off was easy, but i think letting things happen when your baby is ready to come out gives you a real fighting chance. I think unless there is concrete medical eveidence that your baby is distressed there is NO reason to induce. if you try to force him or her out before they are ready then there is a good chance there will be problems. Have you considered just waiting to see when baby 3 chooses to come and give yourself a chance at least? PLEASE don't let them bully you with scare stories. They are very good at it and are really just protecting their own backs. Talk to a supportive medical person. Remember this is YOUR birth and YOUR choice.

My kiddies are 7, 6, 4, 2, and 6 months (nearly). They drive me mad, but I must say that the natural births gave me a great sense of acheivement. With no 3 I just wanted to be given the chance to try, you know? if it didn't happen then fair enough.

I really, really wish you the best of luck and hope that you have a fantastic birth whatever the circumstancesGrin

thanks pops3
well , with dd1 i was 2 weeks o/due and when i went in on the thursday, they put the gel then later put me on the drip for a whole day then on the friday evening i was just about 3cm open but so shattered i must say that i couldnt care any more how the baby was out.so at 12 midninght they took to theatre.
dd2, was 1 week o/due, and they told me that with the scar it was risky to take the chance for labour, BUT gave me the choice which i said i wanted to wait.still, a few days later, my body still wouldnt start anything , no labour.my back was to sore too.
for baby 3, i still want a natural labour but we shall see i guess.
why did you have 2 sctions before your 3 natural labour if you dont mind?

hi Fresco, ds1 was an emergency section, ds2 came only a year later and I was too chicken to try for it naturally. By the time the third pregnancy came I knew this was my last chance saloon as far as having a'normal' birth was concerned.
I was told that the labour couldn't be induced because i'd had sections, too risky for the scar because induced labours are faster and more violent on the womb. So i had to wait and wait and wait until dd1 decided it was time to arrive, three weeks late! They were the hardest three weeks of my life. But Fresco your baby will try to come out of its own accord you know. When you say that nothing happened before that's because it wasn't the right time. Babies DO come out when they are ready, some take alot longer to cook that's all. if you want to try for a natural birth I think you should have a go, but being induced isn't the way to go ,in my opinion. i think your own experience of inductions shows that they're pretty crap . Sorry, but I get cross when I hear how most women get pushed into doing something that doesn't need to be done just for someone else's convenience.
Your labour WILL start on its own if you give it time. I never think of the baby as overdue until I get to 42 +1 !! Fingers crossed for you

Oh, where's Aloha when you need her???/ Sad

Babies do not necesarily come out when they are ready. Sometimes the baby is staying in waiting for section to safely deliver him/her.

I don't think babies come out when they are ready. I think mummies expel them when her body is ready. Yes, baby triggers is off with some hormones. But, some babies don't come out safely. I personallly was never comfortable with the fact that the placenta may start to deteriorating.

There are no medals for childbirth -- natural or assisted. Just do what YOU want.

I've had 3 CS and each was as easy as the other. 48hrs total in hospital, no infections, neat scars, no retained products, and I'm back to my size8 flat tummy again. The muscles took a bit longer to tone up this time but I put that down to 3babies not a CS. And of course, I can still bounce up and down on a trampoline for a good 20 mins without any fear!!

well ladies you all prove an important point about c-sections. No matter what the professional trade says, the body proves it is safe to have several sections. The only bad thing, is the tummy hanging, haha!! mine is just disgusting to look at.

there was a mum on here who was due to have her 6th or 7th her MN name was Zipper (or Zippa). I haven't seen here since she announced the pregancy though. And another due for her 5th (but I don't remembe her name).
