mucus plug + c-section

38 weeks in to my second pregnancy and it's occurred to me I've not got a clue. It started with feeling panic about going in to labour before my elcs date but has graduated to 'wither the plug'? Last time I was emcs at 36 weeks with no sign of it, is it whipped/scraped away during surgery or does it fall out in recovery and removed by a discreet nurse?

I had an emergency c-section but hadn't had a show. Have no idea what happened to it but I never saw it or had to deal with it!

I wondered this too - never saw mine. I was lying on an inco pad in recovery before they sorted me out with pants and pad. I assume it either got sucked out when surgeon was removing placenta or came away in recovery.

It sounds like you are expecting it to resemble a bathplug! Its just a glob of mucus, more noticeable in some people than others. I had a vaginal birth but never saw it, no show or anything else much under labour was well under away. We're all different.

It probably just comes away with all the lochia as part of the normal post-birth bleeding - it's more like snot than an actual 'plug' so you probably wouldn't even notice it coming away if it comes after birth.

I had an emcs and it came away when the waters broke in labour but I wouldn't have noticed if the midwife had not pointed it out...
