Silly question i know, but what happens if you have a c-section planned but you go into labour spontanieously? Will they still do the csec?

I only ask because i'm due to have a csec on Valentines day as baby is breech with no waters and couldn't be turned by ECV, and last night i had what i think was a bit of a show - mucous snot like stuff on wiping. No blood or owt though.

If i did happen to go into labour on my own, would the still do the csec or not? Am 37+2 btw.

Don't know, I would imagine they'd like you to report to the hospital to get the CS ASAP.

Yes, they will still do the c-section. You would just need to call the hospital ASAP if you started to have contractions.

First of all, if you have doubts about anything this far on, then you should call the labour ward. They are there 24/7 and will always give you advice. Don't bother with community midwife/ gp/ nhs direct; just phone the hospital as they're the experts.

If you do go into labour, yes they will do the c/s. Your labour is likely to be very long anyway, so there will be plenty of time. The operation will be no more/ less risky than if you hadn't gone into labour already. Once they start, the contractions will stop anyway.

(If it's any consolation, you'll know 100% that your baby is 'ready' to be born at the right date! )

Yes, they'll bring it forward. I'm scheduled for Monday and nicely in a state of paranoia that I won't make it that long!

I asked my consultant this question and was told to go straight to hospital once I knew I was in labour.
