I was induced early with DD. DS came naturally, but 1 day before induction date as late! Everyone I spoke to said whether early or late, second child is easier than first.

Good luck

I was induced 6 days late with DS1 due to high blood pressure. It was crappy (but then I can't say I actually enjoyed squeezing DS2 out 20mins after arriving at hospital either). DS1 arrived after just 5.5 hours which apparently is good for a first time but didn't feel all that good.

How were you induced? I had the gel. For those of you who had the gel you'll know what I mean when I say "ARRRRRRGGGHHHHHHHHH, FOR GODS SAKE WOMAN WILL YOU F*KING GET YOUR F*KING ARM OUT OF THERE!!!!".

lol I was induced with Ds at 14 days over but labour didnt start till 15days..although one of the lucky ones with 90min labour. This time I am being induced on 15th dec which is one day before due date. Am hoping for it to follow a similair pattern but minus the gel but, so jumping straight to waters being broken as thats the only thing that shifted ds. So dont really have an answer but I think second labours are generally a lot quicker etc as cervix is more prepared.

induced 1 week early with Jess - LONG labour, but had epidural as soon as contractions were noticeable and slept the whole time - they woke me up to push!

good luck

LOL at Pfer (not sure I ever thought I could laugh at THAT memory) - yes I had the gel and yes I know what you mean !! Thought it was just me being a wimp.

I was induced 3 weeks early due to IUGR and had gel, ARM and drip. It didn't work for me and the doc who ended up doing a C-S said that even after 3 days of induction my body didn't look 'ready for labour'. Not too sure what that meant. However, this was my first so would imagine being your second it would be more lkely to be successful.

LOL pfer - yes, been there!!! Had 3 lots of the gel and that last time I swear I could have hit the MW and beat her senseless. And she was actually a really lovely woman, but for that space of time I truely hated her.

I was induced at 12 days OD.

Had 3 lots of the gel, the drip, the works...got to 2/3cm dilated, with the worst pains I have ever experienced in my life before or since. The after 50 hours I agreed to have a c section instead.

Hulababy - 50 hours? Holy Crap! Happy memories?

Memories - remember watching queen mum's funeral procession - when they moved her body prior to the actual funeral. And the woman in the ward bed opposite me was having a nasty reaction to her BP tablets and was sick all night the first night.

Got my own back the next night as the pain of the induction contractions, which were doing nothing anyway, made me violently sick too!

But have to say that overall my birth memories - i.e. the c section really - were really positive and happy

Yeah, but 50 hours! Well done to that woman. Must agree with Nemo in that I think the 2nd time is faster. Thank god.

Not going there!!! 2nd time os out.

I didn't get the induction pains for 50 hours, not big style. Had niggling aches and pains after first gel (Wed tea time). Main pains didnit start until after the 3rd gel (Thurs teatime). THad all the pain releif available from the following morning. I am a wimp - and I dont care!

softmusk - sorry for the divert there. regardless of how long and the induction not working, my final result was a healthy, adorable baby girl and two extremely happy adults who thought they had the best baby ever!

Was induced few days early as ds was getting big (ended up at 10 lb). Had waters broken and epideral before any contractions started - can honestly say that I had a completely pain free labour and birth. Could had done it again straight away and was almost disappointed that the pushing bit was so short. From having waters broken took around 12 hours.

Completely different from horrid first experience with dd. I was also told by midwife that in her expereince the second babies are normally the best births.

Good luck with the induction (if you have one) - the biggest advantage for me was that was able to get my mum in to look after dd - she was my biggest worry.

I was induced to speed things up, dd was a week early. Labour started naturally, but slowly, went in after 48hrs of mild but persistant contractions and still early stages so sent home with tens, waters started to go 24 hrs later, but only slight so sent home again, went in about 24hrs later as but still slow so given drip 12 hours later, still slow so waters broken 3 hours later aaaargh! then had epidural, partly worked, 2.5 hours of pushing and dd born. So from first contraction to dd's birth was 117hours. From drip to birth was 9 hours, wish they'd induced me early as I was knackered after that! We are just having dd, no more.

have been induced twice, but both times were early, at 37 and 39 weeks. all i can say is that the first time was horrific but the second was a straight forward birth following A R M and was almost enoyable. second births are nearly always easier than the first, don't assume it will be the same again. good luck
