Spiral Knights - does anyone know why it's a 13+ age limit

My ds's friend who is 10 keeps asking him to play this. It has a 13 age rule but it don't seem that violent. Is it because of the chat/social networking aspect? I haven't had a chance to look at it properly yet it so any info welcome.
