Free software to block access to certain websites?

I read in a newspaper article a few months ago about some downloadable software that could block access to named websites, but I can't remember its name. There may be a few that do this. I had a look at K9 but this seems to block by theme, not by named website (I may be wrong!). Any advice? Thanks.

If you are using Internet Explorer you can block it from the Tools menu. Google to find instructions. You can specify specific websites which are verboten.

Thanks two - I did read about that actually but we've been using Firefox and would like to continue.
It was a downloadable program that I read about - I should have written down the name...
