Hello,

My name is Rab, I'm the young person's coordinator for 13-16 year olds at York Mind. We work with any young person who is having difficulty with their emotions, such as feeling anxious, stressed or struggling to make friends- they don’t necessarily have to have a diagnosed mental health issue.

We will be starting an Arts Award group this Thursday (1st September), which will be running every Thursday’s 5.30-7.30pm. We’ll be focusing on the topic of ‘story-sharing’, with all sorts of artists coming in to work with us- such as a photographer, a storyteller and a musician! We’ll also have trips out to see a theatre show and the art gallery. We're aiming to build a real element of peer support in the group, in a safe place with a real understanding of emotional and mental health.

We also run 1-1 mentoring with the same age: focused around goal-setting and mental health recovery tools weekly over a course of 12 weeks.

If you have any questions or would like a young person to be involved, please get in contact on [email protected] or on 01904 643364 and ask for Rab on the young persons project.
