My 10 1/2 year old dd has started to have a discharge. Are periods imminent?

Not really, this could go on for a fair few months yet - does she have all the other signs ? body hair/boobs etc ?? if yes to them then it probably won't be too long now ! Just try and keep calm ! pack a s/towel and spare pair of pants in her school bag ( in a little make up kind of bag - nothing that is obvious and could cause major embarrasment etc.) just in case it does happen when she's not at home.

10 is in the normal age range though, isn't it?
It may be a few more years before she has her first period - has she had a growth spurt? Has she developed breast buds, pubic hair. Google the tanner scale, and if in doubt as to whether shes pubescent, contact an endocrinologist.

My DD has had vaginal discharge like this since 5, sigh, but no sign of periods yet though.... her endo thinks it might be an ovarian cyst that started this off.
