Ooh I'd be interested to see this as we are just in the process of kitting out a lean to brick shed for our girls. They are in a converted dog kennel at the moment and space is a bit tight in there for them so I can't wait for DH to finish their new room (he has just concreted the floor). It needs perches putting in and I currently use a washing up bowl filled with straw for nest boxes which they seem to happily lay in.

How are you going to move your girls over? I'm worried about mine getting confused when I introduce their new luxury house!

i'll nip out and take some pics in a bit, but tbh, the perches i have are kind of temporary. i'll creep out and observe them thru the window for a few nights and see where they actually sleep before i change things about tho.

wrt moving them, by the time i had finished getting the house together it was after dark, so by torchlight i picked them each individually out of the cube and carried them over and popped them in thru the pophole. i left a small light in there while i was doing it so they could see where they were and find the perches... then when they were all in, i took away the light and left them to it.

theyre pretty pissed off this morning tbh, but i think thats coz they usually free range all day and they are pissed at being kept in. i dont want to let them out till ive cleared away the old house etc, and i want them to get used to their new home too.

your brick leanto sounds fab

Ah did you have a cube then? Out of interest why have you moved them out of the cube? (One of my friends has her eye on a cube, haven't seen them in real life but they look quite diddy).

What have you got on the floor of their new house? I'm not sure what to do in my brick shed. I like to pick the poo out every day > so needs to be an easy floor to do that. They are on shavings in their dog kennel.

Where's your pics! I love some chicken house porn, I lurk around Poultry Keeper forums just to admire other peoples chicken houses .
