After years of having an unsuitable garden, then children who were too young I can finally get my first hens. I first asked my parents for them when I was about 12 and am 34 now so it's been a long wait.
I just started clearing the area there their coop will go today, I'm guessing it will take a couple of weeks.
I'm going to put the coop inside a large walk in run 2x3m so that they will have plenty of space when I'm out. They will have free run of the garden most of the time but I want to make sure they are safe if I'm going out for the day.
What are your top tips? Any things to avoid for a newbie? I've already decided to get point of lay hens and it will be the start of July when we come back from holiday.
