can anyone explain the difference between a £46 car seat and an £83 one?

I've been studying the Which? Best buy research as we'll have to buy a new car seat for DS1 soon.

One of their best buys is the Britax kid plus seat which doesn't seem too different to the Britax adventure at half the price.

Which? haven't tested any cheaper seats - is it really worth paying twice the price?

£83 one has a harness (says in description but not on pic) and is more adjustable as far as I can tell...

Does the harness make it significantly safer, do you think? (am a Libran so really dither over pros and cons before coming to the "perfect" decision). Do you think the safety levels between the two seats are much different?

I reckon the seat being adjustable/recline-able will be a big factor fot longer journeys...

How old is your DC? DS is just 4 and I am looking to buy the same range carseat and am definatly looking for one with a harness (the Britax evolva I just looked at says harness is used up until 18kg, so I am guessing nearly 5 for my DS - he slides under the normal belt at the mo.) You can only use them for abit though as far as I can make out - some may not even work past about age 4 if it's a 9m + carseat. Have you gone to the britax site and put in your car make? Thats what made me look at the evolva as britax says it's the only one that fits

Hello Secret - cheers fot the tip, I just chcked out the Fit Finder and the Britax we are looking at didn't appear. We've got a citroen - we haven't got isofix but can't see why any other car seat wouldn't fit?! Oh, it's all doing my head in, I hate these big purchases as I always have to think myself silly!

Neither Britax Adventure or Kid Plus has a harness. Kid Plus is a nice seat but has the disadvantage of being heavy. It weighs 6.5 kg compared to Adventure which weigh 3.5 kg. THis may sound like nothing but it makes a difference in a frontal collision at moderate speed.

Adventure is IMHO the best high back booster on the market if one can't used a Britax Kid Fix (Isofix). It's cheap, light weight and still sturdy.

WOW i just used the fitfinder and according to it going by DS2's weight he has grown out of the stage 2 car seat so i should be looking at the next ones up....but he is only 2yrs 8m old

this is what it says about DS2

Group 1-2-3 Weight: 9kg - 36kg
Age: 9 months ~ 12 years A good option but remember that your child has now outgrown the five point harness so a group 23 seat may be a better solution at this stage.
