Maxi Cosi Tobi, should I be worried?

Been surfing the net and have read so many people saying that their kids arms come free from the straps. Also that the straps jam. I've worked out that you tighten the straps and the bar goes green... but when i arrive at my journey the bar isnt green any more. so I took the carseat out and saw that if the straps are done up, tightened, and green, if you flex it, the bar alternates green and clear. I believe this is still safe. Has anyone had this carseat and had NO PROBLEMS. Please reassure me!

This does happen with the indicator. Provided the straps are tight to the child, at the correct height and you can just get 2 fingers between your child's chest and the harness then he is strapped in tightly. The green line is just an indicator and it will change as the child moves about and the harness crotch strap moves.

The harness jamming was something that happened on a batch of Tobi's a couple of years ago. If this happens you can take it back to the store you bought it from and you should be sent a seat to loan from Maxi Cosi whilst they fix your seat. I believe they have attended this issue and I have not come across it for quite a while.

Some children do wriggle their arms out of the harness, no matter what child seat they are in, it is important to ensure the following:

• the harness is at the correct height (level with or just above shoulders for front facing)
  
• the child is lightly dressed, no puffy or thick clothing.
  
• the straps are pulled tight, so you just get 2 fingers flat on his chest between LO and harness
  

Children might still manage to escape even if you do all that - if so there are aftermarket products that you can use to close the gap the child is getting their arms out of.
