Car seats

Fiat 500 Stage 1 carseat??

DP has just bought my Christmas present - a Fiat 500! From the man who never buys me anything, this is possibly the most romantic gesture he has ever made.

BUT, this means we need a second car seat for 11mo DD. We currently have a Maxi Cosi Toby in our Megane estate, but I think this will probably be too big for my dinky new set of wheels. Any recommendations on stage 1 car seats?

Also, there is no chance of my Bugaboo fitting in the boot. We are looking at a BJCM and were long before we bought the car Does anyone know if this will fit?

I think our best bet is to go and try but any advice would be greatly welcomed.

I know someone who has a 2008 Fiat 500 and has a Britax seat fitted in hers, im not sure of the model though, but it has a foot prop and is Isofix. She has also used a Britax Eclipse in there and a erf seat but I have no idea which one and it renderd the front passenger seat useless.

She uses a Quinny zapp for her ds (hes almost 3) but im pretty certain that shes had her Phil and Teds in there as well (prob have to take back wheels off). I would pop your car along to mothercare, John Lewis or anywhere that sells pushchairs and ask if you can try out the BJCM in your car.

Would it be more economical to get an ERF seat which is suitable from birth? I remember the BJCM being quite bulky because it goes flat, but have no idea about the boot in your car. Can you turn the front airbag off, and have them in the front, or does it have 3 doors?

I put the britax eclipse and bjcm in the boot of my 107. Wheels off is better though

Evening MM

We've got the BJCM if you want me to take any measurements? I've also got a friend who had a Fiat 500, I'll send her a message and let you know what she used

I have a MC pearl in the back of my Fiat 500 with no issues - do have to remove the seat head rest to clip isofix in correctly but no issue.

Also I have a BB Chameleon which will fit in the boot either with wheels off or is lazy like moi with one of the rear seats down - again very easy to do!Grin

Thanks everyone for your responses

I had looked at the MC pearl before so may go with that for my new car. We need a second seat anyway. Great to know the BB will fit, I will have a play when I pick the car up! We were going to buy a BJCM anyway as the BB is a nightmare on the train etc (and at 11 months she is fast outgrowing the seat Shock ) so FC it will fit. Any excuse for a trip to Mothercare Wink

ERF isn't really an option for the 500 as I want her in the back so I can still use the front passenger seat. If the MC Toby will fit though then I will have a look at ERF for our estate.

I have an ERF Fair G0 in the back of mine which fits brilliantly. DD is 3 now and still has loads of room for a while yet. We had a Quinny Buzz and I took the wheels off - not as much as a faff as it sounds. I love my Fiat 500 , you have a good DH there!
