hi,
we have been given a maxicosi cabriofix by some very good friends.
unfortunately we are missing the 'newborn insert', and so have been looking on ebay for one.
i'm a bit confused however, on what bits we need to get. Do we just need the head hugger bit? do we need it with a wedge (whatever that is)? Any advice appreciated!

wedge and head hugger iirc
Wedge comes out after first few weeks but it useful to begin with. Headhugger until maybe 6 months?

BTW if you need any isofix openers (if your isofix bars are hidden in the upholstery these can be useful) I'm happy to send some - we have loads.

you really only need these if ypu think you'll be moving the base round lots - they save ten mins of sticking your fingers down the back of the seat and swearing and cursing while you try to jam the base in. If you're never really going to move the base, it's no big deal.

I think my wedge and head hugger are joined together; I only realised I should perhaps remove it/them 3 weeks ago (baby now 7 months old?!)

It really is just a solid foam wedge, I suspect you could improvise at a push x

I really wouldn't improvise :( But I'm ultra paranoid where car seats are concerned

wedge comes out of the flap under the head hugger

Thanks All, especially SPB, hopefully once fitted it will stay in the car permanently! But if i do find myself struggling i may be PM'ing you....
I think i get it now, and i've found the instruction booklet which always helps.
Had a quick look on ebay, and i'm surprised how much the insert/pad go for, upwards of £20 it seems!
