Best group 1 car seat that is not a heavy base !

I know there are lots of reviews and posts about car seats but I still need advice.

Basically I need a group 1 seat that isn't really heavy, is not a base with a foot and can be transferred fairly easily between cars.

We bought the maxi cosi priori fix which had great reviews on which website but its so high up that I'm finding my back is sore after I put 19 month old lump in.Also im 4 months pregnant so cant be doing with twisting and lumping baby in and out . i can't see how he is ever going to be able to get in and out of the chair on his own due to the leg stand thingy.

Sometimes I wish WHich didnt exist as it just makes life more difficult. !

Kiddy seats with the impact shield are the easiest to transfer between cars.

Also tried the impact shield seat and he haaaaated it. Husband thinks I'm bonkers as this will be our 3rd group 1 seat in 6 months .

What about a two way elite? They are very light, easy to instal and because they are rf, easier to get the child into.

Oh and a lot cheaper than the priorifix!

Mamas and papas sell the cybex sirona which rotates to the side to put the child in. It would save your back. It can also be used rear facing til 18kg. It's very expensive though, about £400 I think.

I think maxi cosi sell a group 1 seat that also rotates to help get the child in. It's forward facing only though.

To save your back:

Do what I did and preferably with a rearfacing seat as suggested here.

Britax Two Way Elite or Britax Multi-Tech - if they don´t take too much space. They have low sides at the base and so not very difficult to get a child into.

1. have the child facing you.
   
2. lift the child like you allways do when lifting it to hold in your arm.
   
3. put the child into the seat like that.
   
4. swing the legs around to face the rear of the car (incase of a rearfacing seat).Or ask the child to do it.
   
5. buckle up the child.

I would not choose one of those either as crash tests (not consumertests like Which ofcause)and research suggest they are not quite as safe as harnessed forward facing seats.

Britax made shield seats for a long time but stopped just like that in 2002 even tough things were going really well for them.
