HELP - maxi cosi pebble - harness jammed!

I was showing DH how to shorten and lengthen the shoulder straps, and somehow I have managed to jam them. The straps are pulled as short as they can possibly be and now won't lengthen at all.

Has anyone else has this problem in the past and can advise what to do?
