Car seats

Which cars have you had a Britax 2-Way Elite in?

We are looking to get a second rear facing car seat for our 7 month old son. He is currently in the Be-Safe Izi Combi X3 but as we need to purchase 2 more car seats I'm hoping to get something a bit cheaper as spending nearly £1k on car seats is a little out of our price range!

I have contacted The In Car Safety Centre via email who have suggested the Britax and I have to say the price tag appeals, as does the fact it goes up to 25kg as our son is huge (99th centile!). However, before buying I was just wondering if people could give me some feedback on the seat, in particular what cars you have used the seat in and how much leg room is left in the front seat when it is fitted. Any comparisons size-wise between the 2-Way Elite and the Izi Combi would be greatly appreciated.

My parents will be changing their car next year and I don't want to end up having to purchase another seat in a years time if the Britax won't fit the new car they get.

The cars we currently have are a VW Golf, Seat Leon and Audi A4 Estate. The Audi is the car which is likely to change in a year.

Thanks in advance :)

we have had ours in a volvo v70, nissan micra, mini and renault scenic

never had a problem with legroom in the front seat in any of them.

size-wise it's taller than the besafe (we have one of those as well). my nearly 4 year old still has a couple of inches above his head in the 2 way elite so should easily fit in it until he is 5 or over
it looks wider than the besafe, but the base is narrower because it doesn't have the "horns" that the besafe has

We have a BeSafe and just bought a TWE to go in my mum's husbands Fiesta and Dad's enormous Chrysler 300C, and as I am pg with DC #2, to go in our Ford Focus, plus the BeSafe, plus 6'4" DH. The nice lady at the In car safety Centre said that was nothing to go in the Focus with DH in too, except a v, v small chance of the TWE going in front of the Besafe. Which it does!!! So imaine your BeSafe on its most reclined, (DH can't physically fit in the passenger seat,) but the TWE goes in. I'm impressed. Much taller than BeSafe too.

Doesn't give the leg room for the child of the Besafe, which is why i'm happy it'll be in the front seat as seen pics of it on the gallery section of www.rearfacing.co.uk in front seat and to stretch their legs a tall, older child can put a leg between driver and passenger seat and leg between seat and door iykwim. Check out the pics there- its in all sorts of cars, loads of pics! Helped me decide to go for it. Also, thisisyesterday has pics on here of it in her car i think...

Ours are in a Focus and a Mazda 6. DH would struggle a little in the front passenger seat of the Focus, but he has the long enough legs to have to go to tall men's shops.

Hi. We took our Audi A4 estate to the In car safety centre in MK and the 2 seats which fitted were the Besafe izi combi and the Britax two way elite. The TWE gave the most room for the front passenger.

We bought the Besafe seat in the end for the isofix and side impact protection. I?d buy the TWE if we ever needed a 2nd seat though.

Our other car is a VW Golf - the Besafe seat gives a similar amount of room for the front passenger, so I imagine the TWE would give more legroom in the Golf aswell.

I have two TWEs in a Citroen Grand Picasso, one behind driver and one behind passenger. Footroom in front is fine. In between the two TWEs we have a high back booster for older child.

We have ours in a Golf. I am OK in the passenger seat in front (5'6''), but DH (6'6'') is very cramped if he has to sit there. DS is tall like his Dad, and at just 3 he still fits fine rear facing. One of the reasons we chose the 2WE was the height of the car seat.

Masses of leg room when in a Nissan Note and a Renault Scenic. Not much space in a Focus but would be doable if the passenger isn't very tall.

we have it in C4 and used to have it in a yaris. Not much leg room in the front, but doable.
