BeSafe Izi Combo - anyone else had problems with the harness?

My toddler has been in his BeSafe rear-facing seat for over a year now and, although it's comfortable for him and feels very secure, I have always had a problem with tightening the shoulder straps evenly. I can manage to get them almost even, but pulling the tightening strap adjusts the right shoulder much more than the left, and I'm pulling so hard on his right shoulder strap to get the left one anywhere near secure that it must be uncomfortable for him. It has gotten to the point where Grandma, Daddy etc. leave it to me to strap him in, since I can sort of fix it (I fiddle for up to 5 minutes to get it almost right - not easy with a 2-year old who wants to get moving)! It has gotten worse over time and he actually managed to get his arms out of the harness the other day when I was driving Shock. I have left a message with the company who sold it to me but just wanted to know - has anyone else had this problem? How did you fix it?

i would take teh cover off and re thread them they might be twisted which is causing them to tighten unevenly.
I have to rethread mine every time i take teh seat in and out of the car as they are often twisted.

Ah - that's very useful to know. Thank you :)

yeah we have the same problem with ours!

haven't really fixed it tbh, other than fiddling about with them for a while each time

Yep, same here. So far it's not so bad that it can't be fixed by fiddling but it's the right shoulder too.

Hmm. I heard back from BeSafe. They said they're happy to take it back to check out what's wrong with it, but it could take up to a couple of weeks. What am I to do without a car seat for 2 weeks?! Good of them to offer, though. Interesting that at least 4 people I know have had the same problem with the seat.

mmm interesting. I move mine in and out of the car regularly so thought that made the twisting worse and it was no hassle to re thread them.
keep us posted as to what they say.

I have the seat and it is installed behind the passenger seat. I feel like the left hand shoulder strap is always looser than the right, I thought it was just me. I don't even think I have the receipt for mine, but it's worth checking out the twisted theory? I might contact BeSafe too. thanks for posting

We have our seat out of the car at the moment, trying to see what's wrong with it (after our toddler got himself out of it again last night). The straps aren't twisted at all and they tighten evenly when he's not in it so I really don't know what's wrong with it.

I contacted Besafe and they asked me to take the seat back to the retailer. I did this, and they checked out and could find no fault. However, when DS is in the seat, one strap has more 'give' in it than the other. The lady explained to me that the whole strap system is one loop of seatbelt, and that you have to be sure to pull the tightening piece straight out and not down, or not up (thus making contact with the surrounding casing) when pulling the strap to fasten your child in. also, that if there is more room at one side, then you should 'hold' the other side, and loosen and re-tighten again, to ensure both sides are equal.
Easier said than done, I pointed out that I could get more than 2 fingers underneath the looser side, and she had said that it's the shoulders that are more important, and there isn't a problem with the seat as such. I tried to re-tighten my LO in the seat in front of her and she said it was OK. There is a slight difference between the straps. I am going to keep an eye on this, they did check for any tangles behind the seat and there were none. The problem is only evident with the child in the seat - when they checked the harness and tightened it empty, both sides of the seatbelt appeared equal.

Just to add, it's the left strap that seems looser on my seat, and is behind the passenger seat.
those of you with right hand strap issues, are your seats behind the driver?

Yep, we have this problem too. It's the right hand side for us (ds's right). I usually sort it by tightening the straps fully when hes
not in the seat. Doesn't last for long though and soon goes wrong again.

I have this problem, and the strap is twisted, I can feel it and just see it, but how do you get the clip bits off to rethread it - i can't get inside enough iyswim?!
