Car seats

To all RF car seat owners

I know there's the RF website but it seems barely used. Would it be worth starting a thread on here listing who has a RF car seat & where we (assuming we are willing to show our seats to local MNers)?

I think it's a good idea. It is such a pain that these seats are not widely available in the shops. It really gets on my nerves that some of them are manufactured in the UK, then exported to Scandinavia only to have to be imported back to the UK! Ridiculous.

I'd be more than happy to let a MNer have a look at the one we have.

Ok, what shall we call the thread?

I'd be happy for any MNer to see our BeSafe iZi Combi isofix ... in fact soon we're going to have two of them in the same car. Count me in as another person who's sad that the seats are made here but not sold here. I know they say there's no 'market demand' but frankly there can't be any demand if they are never advertised - that's what marketing is about, surely?

I got mine from Paul Stride in York

The In Car Safety Centre in Milton Keynes is fantastic for rear facing seats and they'll try loads in your car to see which fit.

We have the Britax 2way belted in RF, and it was the only one we could get to go in my Prius. I have isofix points but there wasn't a RF isofix which would fit AND allow anything like a normal driving position. It feels very solid though.

I also got mine from the In Car Safety Centre in MK. DH went along to get it fitted, can't for the life of me remember what model it is though! It was the only one that would fit in the back of our Alfa 147. They were very helpful and I would definitely recommend them.

I think the problem is that most people have never heard of RF seats, most people that have seen DD's seem surprised that it's an option. There's seems to be a real rush to get babies FF as well, I know several parents that have boasted about how their baby is too big for the baby seat when they clearly aren't Hmm

Gah, forgot to say that we are in Cambs and would be happy to show any MNers the seat.

Britax 2 way elite from In Car Safety Centre.

South Devon.

I was Sad the other day when I saw a baby who couldn't have been more than 6 months old (or a VERY small 9 month old) being put in a forward facing car seat. Is that legal at 6 months?

I'm never good at confrontation so I just carried on. Really think I should have said something though.

Before I get flamed...I know we are not allowed to buy/sell car seats on here but, if I was looking to get a 2nd rf car seat as a spare for GP's does anyone know where I should look for a 2nd hand one. I just can't afford to buy another new one at the moment but don't want DS to travel FF in another car (for safety and so he doesn't get used to it).
I have looked on the RF website forum but it seems rather quiet.

I also have the BeSafe IZi combi isofix. Would be very happy for anyone to come and have a look, although I'm in oxfordshire and it was bought from the babyworld shop in wallingford, so I suppose it would be just as easy to see it there (they have a range of RF seats).

Will be moving to Devon soon though so would be happy to show anyone once we get down there.
