Mine has just arrived! Next day delivery from Karma Canvas - they have been very swift and nice on the email. Although I haven't even taken it out of the delivery box yet and I'm not sure I can lift it!!

VivaLeBeaver Wed 03-Apr-13 16:52:52

I have one of those, they are very nice.

TheRealMBJ Wed 03-Apr-13 16:55:25

One of the Soulpad ones?

Now that I'm in full research mode, I wonder whether this wouldn't be beter?

TheRealMBJ Wed 03-Apr-13 16:59:16

Or better even

MandragoraWurzelstock Wed 03-Apr-13 17:05:12

we've got a 3 metre hybrid and waiting to test it out. Garden is a swamp.

We used to have a 4 metre but sold it.

OneHundredSecondsofSolitude Wed 03-Apr-13 17:06:14

You probably do need one. We love ours but....I'm already moving on to lust over a touareg

hz Wed 03-Apr-13 17:41:43

I went to a campsite last year where some campers had an emperor tent and a 5 metre bell tent JOINED TOGETHER. It was phenomenol.

TheRealMBJ Wed 03-Apr-13 17:51:36

Would you not need like 3 pitches for that size tent?

hz Wed 03-Apr-13 18:07:12

Was the kind of campsite where you aren't allocated pitches. They had several kids at least one of whom was a wheel chair user so they did need the space. I had to peek, they where happy to show me around - they had a burner too. Very comfortable!

AriaB Wed 03-Apr-13 18:33:02

When we are rich and have a bigger house, garden and car i'm TOTALLY getting a Bell. Just saying.

TheRealMBJ Wed 03-Apr-13 19:50:56

We're not rich, have a small semi and virtually no garden. We STILL need one. And a 5m Bell is cheaper than a 6 sleeper tunnel...

I don't think I can persuade DH to get an Emperor though sad

FiveGoMadInDorset Wed 03-Apr-13 19:52:31

I have a bell tent, This year will be a semi permanant structure in the garden with two wrought iron day beds in and a coffee table, some rugs, bunting and some lights, next year will hopefully be adding the stove.

WoTmania Wed 03-Apr-13 19:54:24

Everybody needs a bell tent.

TheRealMBJ Wed 03-Apr-13 21:08:26

Ok, so I am utterly and totally sold on the Bell tent idea.

Is there a big difference between Belltent UK and SoulPad as suppliers. I know there are others out there but it seems to me a choice between the Belltent Ultimate 5m (am never gonna pass The Emperor as a viable option) or the SoulPad Genie 5m.

MummyPigsFatTummy Wed 03-Apr-13 22:11:38

I have seen good things on here about Soulpad but someone on another thread has just bought one from Karma Canvas. You might want to have a look at them. Try ebay too. There are quite a lot on there.

The best value supplier is Obelink in the Netherlands but as they no longer ship to the UK, you would need to either take a trip over there or know someone on the European mainland who could take delivery for you. I am not sure if the saving is worth the hassle these days.

shirazplease Wed 03-Apr-13 23:15:50

we bought the soulpad 5000 genie about 3 months ago and FINALLY pitched it yesterday, in our garden. It's even better than I had hoped.

I NEED the tea light chandelier now. NEED.

Moodykat Thu 04-Apr-13 08:59:32

I need the tea light chandelier too. Have already "bunted" as it were. It's a whole new world for me and I am beyond excited!

MandragoraWurzelstock Thu 04-Apr-13 09:23:50

Yes our original one came from Obelink. It was 4 metres, SIG and cost £206 delivered.

I then sold it for 250 a few weeks later as I felt guilty for not going camping at that point, we only had it up in the garden.

Now I do go camping with the children and miss it very much...I am trying to console myself that the 3 metre will take up less room on the campsite and be less heavy in the car.

shirazplease Thu 04-Apr-13 14:51:21

'Bunted' I love it. The verb of bunting.

I too have bunted, 15m of the stuff, was sewing like a lunatic. The French are going to think the circus have arrived when we get to our site in the Vendee.

OneHundredSecondsofSolitude Thu 04-Apr-13 18:18:53

Mine is from karma canvas. It's got a mosquito net door which the soulpad / belltentuk / obelink ones haven't. Was v useful last year when dd was crawling

I got a double layer chandelier for Christmas. I can't WAit to use it

My mind is turning to carpeting / rugs next [ponce]

TheRealMBJ Thu 04-Apr-13 19:54:59

I'm going to have to make some bunting for when we get one. I am ridiculously excited.

Looking for a good campsite in Devon near the Dart if anyone has any good recommendations. (Preferably a little quieter than the average campsite)

Done it with Demi inner and some solar fairy lights grin

Moodykat Sat 06-Apr-13 07:26:27

Congratulations! I got some battery fairy lights in the pound shop yesterday, and pound stretcher had solar ones reduced as well. Just so you know!

TheRealMBJ Sat 06-Apr-13 08:14:17

Oh thanks! I'll go have a look.

One can NEVER have too many fairy lights!

Branleuse Sat 06-Apr-13 08:37:44

I didnt realise I needed one of these.

I do now!

TheRealMBJ Sat 06-Apr-13 09:56:46

It's totally infectious.

nizzy99 Sat 06-Apr-13 12:25:35

I've just bought a soulpad hybrid-g also (on Easter sale) and can't wait to go away with it and our 5month old the reason I bought one is because of all the reviews and praises on mumsnet soulpad service was 1st class.

Also just joined mumsnet with all the great advice and info.

TheRealMBJ Sat 06-Apr-13 20:58:40

Just need to start sewing my bunting. Have quite a bit of red and blue fabric with a Scandi themed print on it in my stash....

nizzy99 Sun 07-Apr-13 10:05:24

I got a wood burning stove from KP wood burning stoves to go with it lots of people recommended him and I thought I could use it in the garden when were not camping so why not eh smile

shirazplease Sun 07-Apr-13 14:03:24

Just had a lovely call from Helen at Soulpad explaining they are out stock of the 5000 hybrid and she has upgraded my to the Genie free of charge!

What amazing service. Am very impressed and so glad I chose a Soulpad.

nizzy99 Mon 08-Apr-13 12:27:00

That's fantastic that's the very tent I got which I did get for £506 I decided to go with soulpad because of the amount of people that said the customer service was great.

Well done soulpad that's the kind of service that will keep people coming back.

TheRealMBJ Wed 10-Apr-13 10:15:44

It has arrived. Can't wait to open it up mad pitch it.

TheRealMBJ Wed 10-Apr-13 10:18:39

And pitch it.

Moodykat Thu 11-Apr-13 20:04:53

Have you put her up yet?!

TheRealMBJ Thu 11-Apr-13 22:47:07

No sad

Don't have enough soace in garden currently. We are going to have a rest run in ILs garden at the weekend. Can't wait.

Moodykat Fri 12-Apr-13 08:46:18

I'm jealous! I don't have beds for it yet or I think we'd be sleeping in ours this weekend too! Have fun!

TheRealMBJ Fri 12-Apr-13 10:07:55

We don't have beds but are going to borrow air beds ad sleeping bags from MIL. I think we are going to need extra blankets and hot water bottles too though!

TheRealMBJ Sat 13-Apr-13 18:34:59

It's up and it's awesome grin

nizzy99 Sat 13-Apr-13 21:41:47

Brilliant, how long did it take you? I've still not got mine out the bag yet sad

TheRealMBJ Sun 14-Apr-13 07:31:25

So pleased. It took us 46minutes to get it up first time but I think it will be a lot faster in the future.

We spent the night in it too. Was very pleased with the level of warmth but the howling gales made it impossible to sleep as I was convinced that I was convinced the pole was going to snap and the tent collapse. It however stood up to the test an remained erect and dry all night.

One of the guy ropes at the back did come undone though, which I will investigate further when more awake.

nizzy99 Sun 14-Apr-13 18:35:39

That's good going glad to hear all went well, I'm planning on taking it down to my dads house for a practice pitch since my garden isn't big enough but I'm hoping for dryer weather to do so its been on and off showers this weekend.

bltglark22 Wed 24-Apr-13 14:24:25

Hi, I'm new one here but I've just ordered a 5m soul pad lite. It comes friday. We're planning to use it in france for 2 weeks in the summer (2 adults and 3 children). What are the additional essentials we need to get to go with it?
