Going camping on 19th Augaust.Taking 18month old ds.Have two big rooms in tent.Partner is not keen on taking travel cot as room in car, though I think it will be best.
Im concerned that he will not understand that he is to sleep in his own room in the tent on an air bed when its still going to be light. He usually sleeps in quite a dark room. Will he fall off air bed? Will he understand? What should he wear?
What is the best way to do this anyone?

What about a ready bed thing. A ids airbed with attached sleeping bag. He can't roll off, and will be cosy. Use an additonal blanet if you are worried

I would definitely take the travel cot. It just helps to keep them in their routine of sleeping in their cot, and saves you lots of hassle when you're trying to settle down to a quiet drink!!!

We bought a roof top box from Ebay so most of the camping gear goes in there. Could you get one of those?

I'd agree with Sievehead about the cot. My dd (2.2) is a wriggler and moves all about her cot at night, so I don't feel she's ready for an air bed yet. As for dressing her, last week while camping we put her in her PJs and two fleecy sleep suits and she was fine. I did cover her with a blanket too but she isn't used to it and kept kicking it off.

DH normally moans about the amount of stuff we take on holiday and it normally results in holiday argument no 1, opening line "we won't fit all that in the car"! (Argument no 2 is him stressing to leave, me wanting to tidy the house first). He took one look at what we were taking last week and said "we'll take the trailer". I compromised and didn't tidy the house before leaving. It was mighty strange setting off on holiday speaking to each other!

Hi, all I'm new to mumsnet, but was hoping for some advice. We are going camping for first time shortly, is there anything some of you regular campers would not leave home without?
