What should 2.0 yr old dS wear at night in tent?

Not sure what to put DS 1 who is 2yrs old (birthday only a cple wks ago so is only just 2) in to sleep at night. He will be in travel cot. He's only ever slept in grobags until now at home, not been camping before. Not sure whether he is better in a junior sleeping bag or whether to put him in vest, fleece sleep suit and gro bag with blanket or similar to keep him warm.

Advice please

bring him in with you - keep you both lovely and warm.....

put him in the est, fleece sleep suit and thenhave him sleep in your sleeping bag with you.

I also recommend buying him some tights or leggings (I buy them for DS from the girl's section of H&M) and put them on him for extra warmth if it's very chilly.

The first time DD camped aged 2.2 she slept on a ready bed (blanket on top of the readybed underneath her) wearing:

vest (long sleeved I think)
long-sleeved & -legged PJs
all-in-one fleece sleepsuit
2.5tog Grobag
fleece blanket over the top tucked under to stop her rolling out.

It was August bank holiday and not very warm (around 11 degrees at night in the tent - was anal 1st time mum with room thermometer) and she was as warm as toast.

Forgot to say, DS 2.2 will be wearing the same next week (if it stops raining & we go camping) except I've cut up a foam insulating mat to fit on top of his airbed (has raised sides so won't fall off)

Depends where you are! I.e. how warm it is.

Ds2 (26mo) we'd just stick in a nappy in warm climbs, but in a fleece sleepsuit if it was colder - as he doesn't do blankets (or rather prefers to sleep on top of, rather than under, them).

I'd go with the vest, sleepsuit, fleecy suit and grobag, warm blanket tucked in. DD has done this since 5mo and been lovely and toasty As others said, if it's a cold night put him in with you.

Amazonianwoman - was that one of those kids airbeds (thomas the tank engine, upsy daisy)? Wasn't sure whether to get one for dd (3) this year. Last year she went in her travel cot. Not sure what to put her on this year. Any suggestions? Thanks

DD had a Fifi ready bed which was OK but she rolled out easily and the cover is thin & doesn't feel very nice.

DD and DS now both have Kampa junior airbeds - cheaper, much harder to roll out of, made of a sort of flocked material so a fleeece blanket sticks to it like velcro. DS hasn't used his yet, but fingers crossed They both love that they've got pink & blue...

DD hasn't got much space left in hers but she's 5 next month and around 114cm? tall. I'd say it was definitely a worthwhile investment for a 3yr old (have used it for weekends away indoors too)

I've cut up a couple of cheap foam insulating sleep mats to fit on top cos airbeds can feel v cold.
