Still looking for a smaller tent than my Diablo 600 for France in the Summer and weekends away.

I'm drawn to the Orchy and Icarus as they have the SIG, so it would keep the dog in too!

Anyone got either? opinions on them would be great thanks

Its 2 adults and 2 kids age 5 & 3.

As a say we have a diablo 600 for longer trips so I just want a weekender.

Thanks

No advice on the tents I'm afraid, but I read the title before I saw which section it was posted in and thought - wow, what bizarre baby name choices

LOL weblette I thought exactly the same thing! I was trying to decide whether Vango Orchy was a first and middle name together, or whether a comma had been missed out between them.

i have an orchy

(am on my 2nd as last years had faulty stitching so i used it for the season then returned it and got my money back and bought it again this season!)

this seasons is better as you can use poles to put the front door up and make a canapy, also has a zip for electric hook up.

they have also used slightly fatter therefore stronger poles this year

definitley get a footprint so your actual tent doesnt get covered in mud as its much easier to hose off a footprint then clean the tent bit

the bedroom is seperated by a curtain so it will be easy to access your children if necessary during the night without having to unzip the pods and let cold tent air into the bedrooms!

there are lots of windows to let in lots of light and this years has zips on the bottom of the SIG fir extra ventilation, especially important if several of you are sleeping in and you are wet with rain etc.

last years got lots of heavy rain and wind on it and no signs of leaking at all.

was held very securely with my rock pegsand delta ground anchors (I have never even looked at the tent pegs vango provide (literally) but i wouldnt use them!)

Bought the orchy based on nannyL's recommendation. All valid points IME.

Used in gale force winds & heavy rain. Stayed dry. Nuff said!

We've got an Orchy 600 from last year too. Don't know anything about the other one. Orchy is a good size for our family of 4, plus we have a tarp/shelter to cook/eat under in rain as the living area isn't too huge, but tent is a good size to fit in our garden for cleaning, etc. compact bag too for the car. Would thoroughly recommend.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm looking at one on Ebay with footprint & vango extension canopy thing. It has a small hole in the groundsheet but that would fix wouldn't it?
£150 I thought that seemed a good price.
