Is your heart really set on a sleeping bag?

We wanted to get a double bag last year but due to being a bit skint ended up taking a very warm duvet that we don't use in the house as it is so hot. Was very comfy and warm and there was none of that getting twisted up in a bag stuff. I was worried we would be cold without sides to zip up but we were really toasty. Duvet takes up more space and doesn't feel like hardcore camping but is very nice.

That is a good point, beachcomber.

Need to trawl around the house to see what we already have.

We've used a duvet before too. Purchased a "stuff sac" from Millets or somewhere and the duvet fits nicely in that all rolled up

We've got lichfield one from Argos, its one of the biggest they do, has zips both sides and is lovely and cosy. Warmer than duvets as no draughts and keeps you warmer underneath, cost about £40 but worth it.

thanks will look at Argos one. Am going to set up the whole affair in back garden this weekend and see if I'd be warm enough with a duvet (or 6).

Is a double (with a dh!) warmer than a single then? We've both got singles but I can't stand mine as it's a mummy type and I can't cope with my legs being restricted!

Found it, which reminded me we didn't buy a double in the end, we bought two coleman hudson XL and zipped them together, costs more but gave more flexibility having two seperate ones. They were super warm and snuggly, fab nights sleep was had.

We haven't got a 'double sleeping bag' because if you buy two of the same kind then open them out, you can zip them together. That way you have a zip down each side.
Those cheaper flat sleeping bags are best for making into double - il's take four bags and zip them into two doubles and its super snug and warm.
I found I was warmer with the duvet underneath the sleeping bags to give some insulation from the airbed or floor.

so, you zip two doubles together to make 1 mahoosive one, or 2 singles together, which make a double??

Was looking at a double at a shop today, and it didn't look that big!!

You zip two singles together to make a double. If you buy those really cheap flat ones that might not be so warm, buy 4 and put two-zipped-together-to-make-a-double inside another twozippedtogethertomakeadouble for cooler nights,
instead of buying two expensive warm sleeping bags to zip together.

DP and I slept in a double while I was 6m pg.... well we slept in it for the first night - it was too small for me, bump and him! They aren't as roomy as sleeping in a double bed, but then I suppose you need to snuggle up to keep warm when camping

mm, dh and I not exactly the smallest people so prehaps the 2 singles that could be zipped together might be best!

geegees I was looking at the Coleman Hudson double so will check out the singles.

troutpout ooh, that looks rather nice!

flibberty, that sounds lovely and warm, but Dh & i would need serious weightloss before we could fit in, I fear...

We got one from Argos (Blue with a brushed cotton lining) that is toasty warm.

It is not as big as I would like, but you have to snuggle up.

Get sooo warm I always have to stick an ar out - then pull it back quick when cold air hits! I can't keep socks on in it as get too hot - just normal long jammies.

Sorry - it is in the loft.

I just searched and found an old thread here where it was linked to, but seems to be discontinued

It was an Argos own brand but looks like a blue version of this (more expensive) Coleman bag.

Sorry
