My d 3 loves haven but we have always stayed in a static caravan. We have bought a trailer tent and were planning to go to a haven site for a week in this but have heard bad reviews about toilets/showers/facilities etc-is this true on all haven sites? We were thinking of either lakeland or a site in wales-if this is true can anyone recomend a site in either the lakes or wales x

I too have heard terrible reviews about Haven Shower facilities. We camped last year at Stanwix Park Holiday park in Silloth about 45 mins from Carlisle and near Lake district. It was the first time we had camped (we usually do the vans at Haven too!) This site is really excellent and SO clean. It had a campers kitchen which was also immaculate. The pitches are all hard standing which is better than grass.
The site has an indoor and outdoor pool, amusement arcade, small bowling alley, small shop etc.
Evening entertainment is geered up towards the kids (my daughter aged 4 loved Foxy fox and still talks about him 6 months later!) and there is an adults only showbar also.
There is not much to do in Silloth itself but you are not too far from Lakes.
I would definetly recommend this site as an alterative to Haven because you do not get the huge crowds and they are not constantly trying to get your cash from you.
