I haven't stayed at three Cliffs but camped at Hillend on Llangennith beach a bit further down the Gower last year and thought it was a great site, very friendly with playground for the kids and cafe and shop with very easy access to the beach, we're going again this August, it does get very busy though and you can't book I don't think and not sure about dogs either.

Another great campsite we've stayed was North Morte Hoe Farm in North Devon with lovely sea views overlooking the island of Lundy, it's just next door to Woolacombe which has a fabulous beach, there is access to a little beach from the campsite, but very steep but you could easily drive to Woolacombe beach.

No you can't book Hillend, we went a few days before the August bank holiday weekend last year and got 2 nice pitches easily, but it did get completely full over the actual weekend.
