Eurocamping Vendee-ites - Cod, MartianBish etc

thank you for your help and advice - the Badgers have just come back from a splendid two weeks at La Garangeoire as recommended by the collective power of MN.

I can personally vouch for the area, the weather, the site, the Angela Bird book, the beach at Paree-Plage by Bretignolles, the Leclerc at Olonne-sur-Mer for emergency baby toys, the Super U at O-s-M for fireworks and craft supplies, including wooden boxes etc to paint and real clay. Also the moules frites in St Gilles Croix de Vie, the teeny hotel restaurant in Coëx and the practice of adding salt to caramel icecream.

i'm going in a few days to a different site. Any particular places St Gilles for moules-frites? It's DH's holiday treat.

Glad you had a lovely time - we went to the Vendee for teh first time this year - Clarys Plage at St Jean de Monts - and will definitely trying La Garangeoire next year!

You can see why people move to France can't you - such lovely fresh food and really lovely climate - so close to get to as well!

Moules-frites - anywhere that looks nice probably is.
MB recommended the one in the square by the church but we were in town on market day so escaped over the bridge to the restaurants on the promenade where it was a bit less manic.

One by the church is fabbola for grilled sardines (if that is your thing)

site was more Irish than British, also lots of Dutch, but it's not UK school holidays yet so guess it would get more english later

met two hens at the campsite, also grinning man on reception

we had crepes not donuts - saw the stand though

cod -am now arcachonning just for a weekend (have boasty thread on new holiday accomodation) so feel free to venture out in sparkly knitwear or yellow crocs.
