Camping

Is there such a thing as a camping highchair??

Right, the problem:

DD2: 14 months, just walking, not into sitting still!

We're going camping next week (I know, I'm disorganised!) - what do I do about dinnertimes?

I have a little eurohike camping chair which she will sit in - has anyone used the fabric table? Bit wary of everything ending up all over the tent?

I've tried getting her to eat on picnic rug (like big sis) but she has none of it and starts wandering off/ climbing through dinner...

What do you do??

Booster seat, but just plonk it on the floor. Have straps and trays and everything.

umm, is she too big for a bumbo, we have jsut taken one on hols and used to keep captive at meal times, to be able to feed dd, or one of the fabric high chairs would that fit on the camping chair you have ?

we have two solutions to this. one is a little booster seat thingy that you are supposed to put on a dining chair, has straps on it but wehn we are camping/caravaning it just goes on the floor, DC can go nowhere it's here
the second option is a tad more pricey but we do use it a lot, a folding travel highchair from blooming marvellous, which i can't find now on their website . off to google.

We had a rucksack style baby carrier (made by Karrimor) which had a frame that turned it into a raised seat when you took it off, so that could be used as a high chair.

we have just been camping with our 18 month old and we have one of those little booster seats, got ours from argos and it was cheap as chips. It was brilliant, you can stick them in it to eat, and when you need the 2 of you to put tents up. Well worth it, and I find it great at home as well for drawing etc.

Lol moocowmrs - think she was too big for a bumbo at 9 months!! She's not a petite little girl!

Annoyingly we've got one of those booster seat thingies but the tray got lost when we moved a while back. Think I'm going to have to get another one, arent I?

We've got a baby carrier, Millarkie - cost me quite enough, not buying another and I'm certainly not picking pasta out of ours for the next 6 months!!

The Ikea Antilope would seem to be the perfect solution - comes right apart to go in the car, and doesn't care if its left in the rain. 15 quid and you're sorted

Probably should have mentioned that we don't have an adult sized table so the hauck one (sorry to make you go find that gigglewitch!) and the antilop wouldn't be too useful. You must have a big car cmot! We've got a kiddie-bus and space is still at a premium in there! If it don't fold flat, it's not coming!

No - but the legs come off, and then you can stuff the seat full of other stuff (in our case the waterproofs usually go in it), so it actually takes up less space than something that allegedly folds flat (but of course never does)

I 2nd the argos booster seat. And if the fabric table is anything like ours, it's only fit to play cards on.

We've just been camping and I used the Ikea Antilope for my 18 month old DD, twas fantastic, as cmot said, just stuff the chair with other stuff, hardly takes up any room at all.

Ok, thanks everyone. Won't bother getting the table then, Biscuits - had a feeling it would be a bit rubbish!

Off to argos tomorrow then!

Our clip chair is 5 years old, so I don't know if Mothercare still make them... it has a metal frame that screws onto the edge of the table, a cloth seat, and straps. It fits perfectly onto a wooden picnic table.

Thanks everyone for your advice - will be getting the argos booster seat so I can stick her on the floor.

The taller chairs are no use to us as we don't use a table when we're camping, and I wouldn't want to have to rely on finding a campsite with picnic tables ... and using them in the rain!

Thanks again ... SP xx

We have this one It can be used on the floor just like an adult folding chair or strapped to a chair and used as a booster seat. I am hoping it will fit ok on the folding picnic table seats that we have.
