Hello

have finally narrowed down choice of sites after a lot of research. Would be grateful to hear if anybody has stayed at either of these and views on them

  1. Gwithian Farm, near Hayle
  2. Willow Park(or Valley) near Bude

We are wanting child friendly, quiet but a nearby pub wd be handy - definitely not a club or similar on site. We want to be near good surf beach. Looked at a few near Polzeath but have previously rented house near there and last time we went a few years ago it was a bit horrendously overrun with out of control teenagers. Any suggestions welcome - need to try and book now!!

ah yet another site to think about - a friend has told us about bluehills campsite at a place called trevellas? near st.agnes. Anybody heard of this or the others? All help or other suggestions gratefully received - am now running out of time!! Will end up in a grotty field with cold showers.

We camped in Polzeath a few years ago and it rained and rained and the site felt as though it was going off the cliff. Loads of bickering public school kids snogging their heads of one another, not pleasant. Sorry not been to the others.

thanks giggly - just reinforced my thoughts about Polzeath. As you say it was older teenagers who were a pain when I went and I can do without that. Now also looking at Corfe Castle area any suggestions welcome. Might do a week there and week in one of the other Cornish sites.

I think we camped at the one near sT Agnes a few years ago, if it's the same one, it was lovely here. Up above a little cove, which was beautiful and very quiet with a man selling the most amazing clotted cream and nut covered ice cream! Not very useful info, but it was a good campiste.

i am round the corner from willow valley. It is near the main rd, but in a lovely valley. excellent surf beaches, no clubs anywhere nearby, no houses overlooking you - not a roudy site from what I can tell (i drive past every day at least twice). Would the main rd worry you? speed limit is 40mph. Good choice of pubs nearby in Bude 5mins drive max) or Kilkhampton less than 5 mins (v child friendly pub with exc food). Also bowling go karts etc in Kilkhamton, grass boarding across the rd from park (and golf too). indoor soft play and swimming in bude.

excuse the typing, trying to type one handed and deal with windy newborn

Thanks for that last message - hope you got your baby winded. (that doesn't look right but you know what I mean - I remember those days - mine are all a bit older now). Thanks for that will get in touch with Willow Valley now, it certainly looks good.

Can you believe I am still winding him now .

Forgot to mention there are pubs in Stratton too - The Tree Inn has good food. Stratton is less than 5 mins drive away. There is also a local convenience store type thing there and the out of hours docs if you need it (which hopefully you won't!). Stratton is a bit more touristy than Kilkhampton - you might find The New Inn in Kilkhampton less busy - the food there is good esp the Sunday Roast (you may well have to book though). There is also a takeaway Fish and Chip shop and Pizza place and Chinese Takeaway in Kilk - saves you queuing for ages in Bude!
