...tell me, what are the absolute essentials that I need to go out and buy tomorrow.

So far we have:

Tent
Sleeping bags
Fleece blankets
Pillows
Plates, bowls, cups, cutlery

That's it! What MUST I get tomorrow at GoOutdoors?

Report
dustystar · 01/05/2008 14:55

We can't go either this w/e. I was very looking at my friends well stocked camping boxes stacked up in her hall yesterday.

It's still very chilly at night, and ltos of rain is forecast for this weekend, best of luck. I would have waited until summer for a first camping trip, it might put you off!

If you can get to Lidl, they have fab electric cool boxes for £29.99 - they are raving about them on ukcamping - then again... do you have ehu? cos if you don't then it is a bit useless

and yes it will be that cold!

mind you we're off to Scotland......

lilolilmanchester · 01/05/2008 17:29

we also take hot water bottles!

PandaG · 01/05/2008 18:34

hat really useful - it is in the evenings when it gets a bit nippy...I have been known to sleep in mine, though the forecast for where we are going (Rutland) is pretty nice!

wellies or crocs or flip flops - something that doesn't matter geting wet, and easy to slip on and off in and out of the tent

gas to power said cooker, and the bits to attach the 2 together!

Whereabouts are you Gobbledigook? I have just ordered a Cadac so am going to sell my campingaz cooker. I may be selling the gas bottle and regulator as well depending on whether I decide to change to Calor gas or not. I am near bournemouth

Wow - had a blast! Stayed at Swallow Falls just out of Betws-y-Coed. We were so, so lucky with the weather - it was glorious!

Notes for next time:

Buy a 'toilet' for middle of the night desperation (it was all the champagne!)
Buy a washing up bowl
Buy a decent cool box (I'd forgotten how hot tents get on sunny days!)
