My beautiful Guadeloupe.

But bugger me, isn't 25kgs a bit heavier than I had imagined it was. I had to drag the little bugger tent up 2 flights of stairs (during which time something in my hip went ptiiiiing), in order to hide it under the loft eaves under all my shoes.

shhhhhh DH still doesn't know. Let us all pray the the rain gods for a fine day on saturday so I can erect it in secret in the garden while DH is at work.

Then there will the grand 1st pitch party, where DH will be overcome at the beauteous new tent plus large amounts of beer and fine sausages, that he will completely forget to be cross with me.

Oh yes, and before I covered it with shoes I had to open the bag, stick my head inside, and have a good long hard sniff.

Oh yeah, gimme that canvas smell baby.

lol

And hey, if you and DH fall out over it you'll be able to flounce out of the house and sleep in style

I will indeed. I also have my new (well last year but still untried) thermarests to sleep on. Plus a very fetching new fleece hat (99p ebay bargain....see I am budgeting on some essential camping items).

He won't be cross though. How can you be cross at a cabanon?

and you nekkid inside?

yes canvas tents are heavy aren't they? I remember the day after we'd ordered Lakey online I went to Go Outdoors and saw it there - both bags.... I nearly had a coronary on the spot and had to take a photo and send it to dh's phone or he would never have believed me

I can't lift the tent bag, i can just manage the bag with the scaffolding poles in them.

and we do need to see a photo of Guadeloupe - just the tent please, not the nekkid slubber

Come on then - lets see a pic of the beauteous tent

Whizzz you will have to do with this generic photo until sat, then weather permitting I will upload some up close and personal ones on my profile.

I may or may not do some nekkidity depending on temp and amount of beer drunk (and if DH still needs some persuading).

Lucycat, I knew it was heavier than I had imagined when there was a slapstick comedy moment with the delivery van guy, as his tried to lift it up onto his shoulder and ended up staggering around in the middle of the road like a drunk. He ended dropping it and without thinking I shouted out

"OH DO BE CAREFUL NOW"

I need to get a grip and remember it really is just a tent.

lol at 'gwadaloop'

The delivery blokes couldn't believe that ours was a tent! more like a whole campsite.

my new tent arrived last week, put it up in the garden yesterday, it was up in 10 mins, and we didn't argue.

Slubber, yours is lovely, hope your DH agrees

Quadrophenia, what have you got? A ten min pitch is super quick

Lucycat, one of the new Vango polycottons weighs 90kgs. 90. I had angina dragging 25kgs up some stairs, how the hell do you pitch 90kgs (without a small army of muscular teenagers to help)?

That's a proper tent isn't it?

I will pray for sunny weather for you on Sat , but if it rains, just drink more beer and pretend it has a built in hot tub..............

I stuck my head in one of these at the weekend. Have to say, I wasn't convinced!

lol. If it rains I will postpone the party I think (and hope like mad that DH does not start ferreting about in my shoes hidey hole).

I have a khyam family awning for my campervan www.campershop.co.uk/awnings.htm#khyam_motor_dome_family

I have to say it is rather basic compared to some of the wonderful tents these days, but it does go up super quick (and down) so gfor touring it is ideal
