We need somewhere with lots of Space to run about, preferably near a beach, cycling. West coast? Is that meant to be warmer? Have been told Biscarosse is nice - anyone know of anywhere there? Not at all bothered about restaurants.

Do you definitely want a campsite? Would you consider Center Parcs?

Yes - do they have them in France then?

Yes they do! There are three in France. We went to the one in Les Bois Franc last summer. It's in Nomandy, not coastal, in a forest. There's loads to do, horse-riding, quad-biking, this thing where you walk from tree to tree on rope-things, a big water-park in the centre with brilliant waterslides. You can hire bikes quite reasonably if you didn't want to bring your own. My boys loved it!

We went to Biscarosse - Domaine de La Rive it was a very long drive. It was pretty good -it was on a lake which was nice, and just a short drive to the seaside.

Camping Les Mouettes in Carantec was pretty good - excellent pool complex, tennis & basketball courts, beach next to sites which was great for building dams and general mucking about. Several other beaches a short drive away, lots of rockpools etc.

we went to Camping les deux fontaines in Raguenes /Nevez in Brittany last year - it was fab!! Ther's 2 -3 arge fileds that theyleft empty and used occassionally for archery or football gmaes but the rest of the time the kids used them to rampage in!! Loads of play areas, great pool complex. Skate park, table tennis, basketball, tennis etc. Short(ish - dep on age) walk to beach. Not too far from Quimper with indoor play, trampolining and bowling etc etc. had kids entertioanment and bouncy castle type thing too - don't knwo that age of your dcs but this site suited teenagers and LOs very well. restaurant and takeaway not brill but you have a BBQ and there is a fab resturant in Nevez 5 mins drive away.

we went to La Brande on the Isle de L'orleon (is that how you spell it?) last summer. It's near La Rochelle, great beaches for surfing, fields on campsite with swimming pool and stuff. My 2 BB's loved it. We're trying a campsite in Biarritz this summer which looks fab!

Have a look at the Siblu Bois Dormant site since they have kids clubs, tennis, cycling, athletics track and basketball.

Last summer they also ran football coaching in July and August which one of mine went to and was knackered.

Lots of space and about 1 mile to the beach which they cycled to and then cycled along the prom at the beach front while I strolled with the buggy.

We stayed at lovely alpine campsite near the town of Briancon in the Alps. There is a pool and a fair bit of space to roam around. Its very reasonably priced and very french and the facilities are very clean. There is your usual table football [and ping pong I think] in the indoor games room and boules pitch. Its a big kayaking area so there is rafting nearby, windsurfing on the lake and loads of walking and mountain biking[I am sure you can hire bikes],with cable cars to take you up so there is only the downs to do. Wouldnt suit all tastes and depends what age and what they are into. But we will probably take our DS when he is quite a bit bigger, he is only 5 months ath the mo. Its called the Five Valleys Camping [in Briancon]. Its about a 5 minute drive from the town which has plenty of resturants. they have a website. Good luck on your research.
