That's it really - I want a Khyam rigi-dome and will start keeping an eye out, but wanted some on-line sales advice from all you bonkers enthusiastic MN campers out there..!

You could try Ebay but do your price research first! Also, try the classified ads on sites such as UK Campsite.co.uk The camping boom is on the wane so you may be lucky!

What size tent is it that you want? Places like Outdoor Megastore are pretty competitively priced. Otherwise I'd wait until Spring when people start to clear out their garages and sheds and sell on or upgrade!

Looking at the 2009 ranges Barbie I hate to tell you but the camping boom is most definately not on the wane - if anything the new tents are more expensive and better made than ever before.

although if some of the idiots we came across this summer in campsites across the UK, decided that camping was not for them..... then bloody fantastic!

If you have a big camping store near you, then I would suggest visiting early spring/easter time. Last year we had our hearts set on a certain vango but couldn't aford it. Happen to visit a camping superstore Eastertime, to find that the previous season tents were hughly reduced, making our tent in our budget. Not only that but all tents that were on show, were massively reduced down to about 1/3 of their price. The snag being you had to take the tent down yourself and obviously some of them were a bit weathered (read: poo'd upon) but had it not been for the fact that it was pee-ing it down and we had LO with us, we'd have had the show tent.

This also applies to the tent shows that travel the country (keep an eye out on the local rag), often very reduced and again take the show tent, you've got a bargain

dotty aren't you in Lancashire? I've heard the Go Outdoor shop in Wigan is good and they're advertising a sale now. We have been given a tent for Christmas so are off to look for some other bits to get us started at the weekend. Going to the shop at the weekend that is, not camping!
