Help! - what's the best family tent for 4 people max £150?

Am feeling bamboozled by camping kit websites and all the terminology!

As for so many things in life, I'm turning to the wisdom of Mumsnet to save me.

Please tell me if you have a great family tent you'd recommend...

ps. we'd like one that has two bedrooms but with the main bedroom big enough to house me, dh and dd while she's too small to go in a bedroom of her own...

I don't know why you're planning long-term on having DD in a separate bedroom - it's unlikely you'll get up to much with DH in your own room

wasn't really thinking of any hot tent action with DH!

Just thinking about how badly I sleep when dd is in our bedroom at home. I imagine this will be fifty times as bad in a tent so hoping that, eventually, she can have her own 'room' and I might get some sleep.

The Vango tent looks good - is that type easy to put up? It also looks massive - do you think they do a smaller version?

You can certainly get smaller tents if you want. I posted a link to that one because I know its a good make and a good price. We tend to go for larger tents as we like the space.

I suppose I was just thinking about the (lack of) space in our car boot.

In a normal campsite, would you always be able to pitch a tent of that size? Sorry to be asking such pathetic questions, but i've only ever camped once or twice, and that was with a tiny tent.

It certainly seems a good price for that brand - other Vango tents seem to be much more expensive.

Its quite long but that shouldn't cause you a problem. Its the width that generally causes problems as quite a few sites won't take tents bigger than 5m wide. The tent I linked too is much narrower than that and I'd be very surprised if you had any problems in that respect.

of the two, would you always go for the bigger one?

I prefer bigger tents as i find smaller ones a bit clautrophobic but plenty of people on here like smaller ones. Personally i'd go for the larger tent but then we go camping several times a year. If you are only planning on the odd weekend then a smaller tent will be fine.
