Yes having popped my camping cherry this weekend I'm alive to tell the tale.

Thanks to all of you who gave me lots of advice before we went.

Stayed in our friends tent, which has 3 separate rooms and a living area, the kids were great, the campsite facilities were clean, we ate pretty well.

And I will do it again Although hopefully it will stop raining this time

(only cheated once to go back to friends house for showe, but i didnt straighten my hair )

Fab isn't it?
You gonna buy a tent now?

Report
Blandmum · 08/05/2007 17:58

They key thing is that the kids love it, and if they are having fun, you get a holiday!

What sort of tent do you want???? I can look for one if you like!

Hoping to book for Nodes Point now in August for a few nights.

Cant imagine it taking place of my two week hols but for short breaks will deffo be camping

Sunncamp is a very respected 'brand' havent seen the tent myself, but the picture looks good!

Ours is a Sunncamp Calypso - we only got it cos it was half price but we like it.
Mind you it hasn't actually rained on it in 2 years of using it.

we stayed in Oxwich sal, it was very nice and I quite got used to the camping spirit of it all

I'm already looking at camping porn instead of looking at shoes and clothes I am looking at airbeds and camping stoves

We find we don't do a 2 week holiday (not that we did abroad with the kids anyway, was too stressful to be away that long!) but we do about 3 weeks and then several weekends throughout the camping season.

LOTS more opportunities to relax compared to just the single fortnight away of the past

mosschops30 · 09/05/2007 16:40

Ooh no I still like my 2 weeks abroad, eating out every night, never cooking, not dharing my shower or toilet with others

But I am definately a convert, plan to spen many weekends camping with the kids now, making beans and bacon rolls for brekkie ...mmmmm

We are like you rubberduck. We do 10-11 days for our summer hols and then a week or a weekend here and there. We haven't been abroad in 10 years

mosschops see if you can go somewhere that has several tents put up for you to look around. There are a couple of places near me in Dorset and these are tent exhibitions all over the place at this time of year.

(oops, just read that back - I mean 3 separate weeks scattered throughout the season - I get desperate for home after about 7 days away!!)

I knew what you meant RD. I can't do more than than 10 days at a time really - I need my lovely bed at home
