Are there such tents that can be put up and taken down by single person? I'm after a 6 man one for kids and myself.

What you need is a tent with inflatable poles rather than the traditional ones you fit together and push through. My sister has one and it was an absolute joy to get up and down! Video:

We have this www.gooutdoors.co.uk/hi-gear-spirit-6-tent-p321215
and it's easy to put up. Takes 20 mins to get all the poles in and up and then 10 mins to do the inside. I could do it on my own if one of the kids just held onto a pole on the other side (my four year old would be fine doing it).
It is very heavy to carry though as it has side side pole. I can get it in and out of the car but couldn't carry it very far.

Thank you, that looks spacious. I should have said I would prefer the pods to be one one side.

Airbeam. 10 mins to put up or get the kids to do it and keeps them busy while you sort everything else out!

We have a Quechua 4.2 seconds base and really rate it, although we are a family of six we have started to put the two eldest kids in another pop up beside the main tent now, but I defintely recommend pop ups if you can get one big enough.

How old are your kids?

A straightforward tunnel tent is easy to put up and DS has helped by holding a pole since he was 5 or 6, makes it that little bit easier.

I have Quechua 4.2 seconds xl and it's easier to put up but by god it's hard to pop it back up
In the bag, definitely a two person job.

Kids are 7&5

Vango Airbeam - definitely.
Pitched ours for first time last year in front of a group of cynical friends who scoffed mightily at our 'it says it will take 10 minutes'. Boy did we have the last laugh as we had it up and habitable in well under 10 minutes :o
Taking it down has required a little more practice but using the pump to take the last of the air out works a treat.

Mine is similar to this one but it's a Vango. I can do it on my own as long as one of the kids holds a strategic post every now and again.

We have the Coleman Instant tent and it's brilliant. Takes 5 mins to put up and is just as quick to take down.
