If you are on fb there is a wild camping in Scotland group who always have ideas of where to go. I would ask in there?

We always stay at Glenmore campsite. It's pretty much the opposite of wild camping but it's a nice site if you've got kids with you.

Just avoid the boggy bit Grin

Are you looking for a campsite for landmark or wild camping only?

We are staying at Glenmore next week Oi boggy bit?
I'm also hoping the weather improves massively. Had a very wet day at Newtonmore yesterday.

The campsite is on a bit of a slope and the lower bit is generally boggy. You'll see the reeds and stuff so avoid that bit. If you go up nearer the main road (it's not loud) it's drier. The ground is very stony though so watch out for that. Also the midgies are a bugger because there are a lot of trees. Take midgie nets!

Yeah I know the area pretty well we don't actually live hugely far-away we are going with others as a bit of a meet up. Am permanently midge prepared on the north of Scotland I get eaten alive.
Will try and get there sharpish to get a good spot thanks for that.

Daily I will ask dh after work he's the more knowledgeable on wild camping. Tbh I'd think there would be great spots for wild camping reasonably convenient for landmark. The Cairngorm are your oyster there. Dh has done a lot of mountain biking in the area so he should hopefully have some ideas.

Oooh, I will be doing exactly this in a couple of weeks. Be warned though, the roads are just stowed out with camper vans this year - it's horrendous. We had neighbours when wild camping in the Bongo in February!

Every lay by and off-road spot are busy now.

Ralia cafe just off the A9 south of Newtonmore might be a little far off, but there's a fair sized car park and they leave the toilet block unlocked at night which is useful.

Just remembered seeing some nice spots in little forestry carparks on the road out of Aviemore towards the Cairngorm railway. Not too far down the road in Aviemore that goes past the Hilton hotel (B970).

There's a forest walks car park in carbridge. You'll be able to find it on an OS map. If I remember you turn left just off the Main Street towards a church. There's a path from the car park back to landmark as well as other nice walks.
It probably says "no overnight camping" though.

In Aviemore just now, camping at Dalraddy which is ok. Walking round Loch Morluch the other day came across two or three tents round the edge of the loch. Also dog & I surprised some German wild campers on shore of Loch Insch! Weather for us has been ok except for yesterday's crazy rain. Hope your trip goes well.
